So... has anyone in this boat we share received shipping tags or other follow-up about returning our handguns or what they will be repairing?
I have not yet.

Had an online chat with a Taurus rep this afternoon, all he was able to confirm is that they are slowly working their way through the list of recall work orders and other than filing the online form and getting assigned my work order ID#, which I did about 2 months ago, there was nothing more for me to do but continue patiently waiting.

I'll continue to wait, but I don't promise I'll be patient - LOL

2 months have gone by and still no one knows how they plan to fix or modify these guns?

A person may think he will never drop his firearm, but add some gray hair and arthritis years down the road and the situation may change. The danger may not be to you, but to maybe your grandkids in the next room if you should drop it.

My patience ran out. Traded off the Rossi revolvers I had and used the $ towards another purchase.

I'm in it for the long haul, just because having it in safe working condition is worth the wait, I don't 'need' the snubbie as my sole means of self-defense, and I'm a stubborn old geezer - lol

I'm keeping my 462. It will never go back. It will never be dropped. So, just forget it.

Since it was in my carry rotation I will keep it 'street legal' - I do not want to need to use it (gods forbid) and later have a lawyer interrogate me as to why I failed to have a known safety recall done on it. Likely scenario? Of course not. But courtrooms and jails are filled with the 'unlikely'.

I did the paperwork... this wording makes it sound like I am waiting for Taurus/Rossi to send me further instructions. Am I reading (attached) right?
That's the way I understand it...I am waiting also. Anybody send theirs in?

Based on my online chat a week or so ago you are correct. When (and who knows when that will be) they have a solution in hand they will contact us with the method to return the guns to the mothership. I frankly am NOT holding my breath - lol - but I will wait it out. Once we have the work order ID# we have done all that we can regarding the recall.

This sure seems to have lowered the asking price for one of these. I'm looking at a 3" right now. What I'm worried about is will the action come back stiff as a board or will it be replaced with something else? I don't think they have any 3" current 5 shooters.

I registered my 462 3 months ago lol, and got a email for a 6-8 week wait for how their trying to come up with a fix I suppose. I really think they don't have a fix or know what to do at this point. This is going to be a reboot of the Millennium pro recall. Do you think we'll get a Taurus in 357 to replace?

We can hope, but with their track record they will force us to take a Heritage revolver worth 125 bucks.

I'd be more than happy if they took back my 461 and replaced it with say a Taurus Model 2 snubbie? Yes, I know, dream on - lol

Just finished an unsatisfying online chat with "Peter" at Rossi. He claims all he is being told is that they are still "awaiting parts" to handle the recall and I will be notified when they are ready.

One heck of a way to run a railroad if you ask me.

Update on no update. I contacted Taurus via chat just now and got the following:

"Rossi is issuing a voluntary safety warning on revolver models R351, R352, R461, R462, R851, R971, and R972 made between the years 2005 and 2017 that may have a condition that could cause, under certain circumstances, the revolver to fire if dropped. This Safety Warning and Notice covers revolvers with serial numbers beginning with the letter Y, Z, or A through K."

No return shipping authorizations sent yet, not sure if they will repair or replace. I wasn't even aware of the issue however and at least learned that it is a drop safe issue once again. I haven't been shooting my R 462-02 because I didn't know the issue...now at least I'll take it out to the range...being careful not to drop it.

I ain't doing squat with my R972SS, They will put one of them damn transfer bar systems in it like Ruger did to my black hawk and ruin the value of it and make it much harder to clean....

My R-462-2 has the firing pin on the hammer. How did they figure that would be "drop safe"? Isn't there a mechanism which holds the hammer back unless the trigger is depressed all of the way back to the frame? I am not familiar with the Taurus line of medium and small frame revolvers. Do they have transfer bars like my M44?

Those have hammer blocks.

From the Rossi handbook:

"Your Rossi revolver is equipped with an exposed hammer whichserves as an immediate safety device, indicating instantly by sight ortouch whether the revolver is cocked. The hammer is of the rebounding type, in which the firing pin is notthrust into contact with a chambered cartridge except when thetrigger is pulled. In addition, the hammer-trigger mechanismincorporates an internal hammer block which interposes a block ofsteel between the hammer nose and primer. The hammer block iswithdrawn only when the hammer is cocked, thus preventing anaccidental discharge should the revolver be dropped, uncocked, andsustain a sharp blow on the hammer. Therefore, unlike most single - action revolvers, your Rossi revolveris mechanically safe when carried with the cylinder fully loaded. Finally the revolver cannot be cocked unless the cylinder is fullylatched shut, nor can the cylinder be opened if the revolver is cocked."

Apparently the hammer blocks are not working.
