I was just looking at the TH9 and from most reports it's a good gun at a really good price. There is a lot to like about a pistol that's hammer fired, SA/DA with a manual safety, Novak sights and Buds has them less than $300, but try to find another magazine for it. Top that off with a one year warranty and I'll have to pass on it.

I got a TH9 17 round mag and it fits and functions in my PT809. I hand cycled s snap caps and they feed fine. It dropped free without issue. It locked back when empty. The difference is in thesize of the base plate. It is shorter at the back than the one for the 809. Worth the money i paid for it and I'll probably get another.

Took it to the range finally and the mag functions perfect!! Feeds both jhp and fmj without issue. No mods needed to use in the 809. Three 809 mag would need a different base plate to use in the TH9.

I've been shooting my TH9c with several PT809c magazines for a while now, not a single malfunction. Soon as I can find the 17 rounders in stock, I'll order one more 17 rounder for it. I actually misplaced one 13 round Mec Gar that the gun came with. It's around here hiding somewhere loaded with carry loads. I ordered and got another 13 round mag to replace it, so I'm sure it'll show up eventually, probably after I've forgotten about it. DAMNED OLD AGE!!!!

Anyhow, YES, the 809 magazines work. Now, if you have a TH9 full size and try to insert a 809c compact mag in it, no, it won't latch in. Too short.

Actually you can easily modify the 809 mags to fit, the back side of the base plate is straight on the 809 and curved on the TH9, so all you would need to do is carve, file the very back end of the baseplate to curve downward. Easy Peasy.

Gary, is that the Full Size TH9 or the compact (TH9C)?
His pictures are the full size TH9, but it should be the same for both, just shave off that last little bit of the base plate to fit that curve, whether it's the 13rd mag for the C models or the 17rd mags for the full size or the 17rd mag with the grip extension for the C model.

I never had to modify squat on the TH9c mags, just slapped 'em in and went shooting. :D

It is for reasons discussed within this thread that leads me to despise any acknowledgement of production of standards. Why does every gun maker HAVE TO make a proprietary part/action/mag? Glock is way ahead of the game with allowing other manufacturers to produce gun designs which can accept Glock mags. If they’re doing it under license, so be it. If Glock is opening the architecture to enhance magazine revenues down the line in the future - in mag sales, etc. then so be that, too.

At least it is typical that 7-8 round 1911 mags will predictably fit in any model 1911. The only limitations are that while an 8 round mag will shoot in a Compact 1911, a Compact 1911 Mag won’t shoot in a full size 1911.

I have a PT809 (full size) and tried a TH9 mag while visiting Top Guns in Terre Haute, IN. They manually cycled rounds through it but wouldn't fire it since it was a mag from a new gun and didn't want to have to sell it as used. It seated and cycled fine. But they didn't have any individual mags for sale. Finally, gunmagwarehouse listed them in stock for sale. I just purchased 2 17rd TH9 mags and tried them out this past week. Both TH9 17rd mags in a PT809 worked perfectly. No mods required. Can't speak to the other way around since I don't have a TH9.

I can and they work fine. I've put several hundred rounds, now, in my PT809 mags with my TH9c.

I have 17 round TH9 mags and have used them in an 809 full size with no issue.
To use the 809 mag in the TH9 it will need the base plate modified.
I will post a pic when I get home, but unless you have 809 mags already it won't matter. Finding 809 mags is like finding a needle in a field of haystacks!

Maybe I've got a special TH9c, but 809c mags work right out of the shipping bag. No modification necessary, just load 'em and stick 'em in. :D

For 809 mags, go to gunmagwarehouse.com. I had NO problems buying mine. :D

Full size 17 round..... or the C mags. The C mags are no problem, the 17 round full size are not in stock. This had been a perpetual issue.

There are posts on here about the full size locking in when using the 809 17 round in the full size TH9. The baseplate and magwell opening are the only differences.

I always kinda thought that the TH line of Taurus semiautos resembled the 24/7 model line. And that the Taurus 800 series was built to compete with the bulkier Sig P series.
