Stopped by a local gun store today and was told the 709 Slim had been discontinued. Anyone know if there's any truth to this? I hope not, unless they are coming out with something better.
Hickok45 has openly said he will not do a negative video on any firearm. He simply just does not post them. So he either does not care much for Taurus or has just not been happy with them. I think I can only remember him doing a video on the PT-111 G2, the Judge, and a .22 revolver Model 94 I believe. When S&W came out with the Governor he quickly jumped on that over the Judge. Take it how you will, I really don't know what to think about it.right2arms...Thanks for the heads up! Wondered why he never picked up a 709 previously. And that new Ruger seems interesting. Looking forward to what he has to say.

I also was surprised to hear him mention the 709 last night while listening to him.
I don't recall any gun manufacture stopping production or sales of weapons until a recall was finished?Taurus should finish sending out their replacement guns before they start anything new.
Confirmed here: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/05/10/taurus-pt111-g2s-g2c/However, the PT111 G2 has been renamed the G2C and is basically the same without the TSS lock.
There is also a new model G2S which is a G2C with a single stack frame and magazine. Obviously, a replacement for the PT709.
True, but what's done is done! Unfortunately most management types these days are mostly bean counters, and not really in touch with their product line. They would be fools to discontinue the PT709.
I Like Hickok but he is a Gun Snob, He is a Glock snob , that why he always Has Glocks on the Table, and he get his loaners from Buds,I Love my PT-709 and it goes with me everywhere and would not like to see it discontinued. I'm waiting to see what Hickok45 has to say about it in the video due out shortly.
But, Fish...if you think Hickok won't do a video on a gun he doesn't like...check out the Hi Point C9 of his

Sent from my VS986 using TapatalkThis is a very sad state of affairs. I've had my PT709 since the first year they came out. Have only replaced the ejector (issue with original) and the recoil spring (after well over 4000 rounds and Taurus sent me two). It is my daily EDC all year round. For the last year when I go to the range I only put about 20 rounds out of it just to make sure all is well.
I don't want to replace it as I have CT on it and my holsters are molded for it.
Very sad state of affairs.
So is the 709 actually being discontinued completely or simply renamed? It looks like it's discontinued but still on the Taurus site so I'm a bit confused.I was looking at Taurus on line and it looks like they renamed the PT709 to Taurus Slim. They don't distinguish the models, just call them all Slims. hope this is a sign that they will be keeping them around.
