I've read that they are interchangeable.
So have I despite different SKU numbers on the Taurus website. I don't think anyone I've read so far saying they're interchangeable has honestly tested this out.

Just picked up my 40 S&W G3c at my LGS about fifteen minutes ago. I can honestly attest to the trigger being better than the G2c.

I would find it highly unlikely that Taurus would design a completely new frame and magazine to ‘create’ a G3c 40. Aren’t the frames for the G2c and G3c 9mm’s identical? I had thought the differences were in the sights, trigger, and slide milling. But the frames were interchangeable. But I don’t own a G3c so I can’t say for sure. I also noticed that mags for the G2c and G3c 9mm’s have different part numbers despite being the same magazine. I figure Taurus is doing the same nonsense with the G2c and G3c 40 mags.

Whether the magazines of the G2C 40 S&W and G3C 40 S&W interchange is core to whether I'll purchase a G3C 40 S&W. I've invested in four Taurus PT 24/7 G1 15 round magazines for my G2C 40 S&W and I don't want to lose the utility of those either at the range or EDC.

I suppose I could ask Taurus but the early reports of Taurus CSR's denying the existence of the G3C 40 S&W don't provide much confidence in me WRT the response(s) I'd receive.

It's worth noting the extended 9mm magazines for the G2C & G3C show they're interchangeable despite different part numbers for the 12 round magazines. Maybe I'll have to wait until Taurus offers an extended capacity magazine (if ever) for the G3C 40 S&W to know.

Well, the PT140 MilPro magazines work in the PT140 G2. When the G2c came out, advertisements claimed that the G2 magazines would also work in the G2c. The G2c magazines are supposed to work in the G3c. Logically, therefore, the PT140 MilPro magazines SHOULD be compatible with the G3c. Of course, I haven't tried them in a G2c or G3c myself sooo..... I guess I'll have to go down, buy one and give it a whirl! ;):ROFLMAO::devilish:

EDIT: OK, I did it. Just bought a .40 S&W G3c today and tried the G2 and old PT-140 MilPro magazines in the new gun. They all functioned just fine. I just need to clean the new pistol and post a report on how they all worked. I did notice that the PT-140 MilPro magazines have a different angle on the follower (they're slightly steeper than the G2 & G3c followers). The feed lips are slightly different, too. The G3c magazine is the same as the older G2 magazine, so compatibility won't be an issue.

Impressions, descriptions and a range report later!

OK, instead of an edit to my previous post, here's a fresh range report on the magazine issue:

The original PT-140 MilPro magazines do indeed work in both my old PT-140 G2 and in the new G3c. However... the old dropping mag issue reared it's head with one of the old MilPro mags in both the G2 and G3c. That was an issue with my old MilPro. I still have a bunch of those mags, so I'll need to test those mag some more and measure their dimensions with a caliper; they seemed a bit looser than the newer G2 and G3c magazines. They did work, though.

G3C in .40? Might be tempted.

My 24/7 PRO C is going to have to be replaced at some point. I'll need a part that's no longer available as it's a recall gun.

I have one. Bought it at Academy, cleaned it real good, oiled it and shot it. It seems bigger and a bit heavier than previous models but that's just me. Probably the slide. Feels great in the hand, too. And it comes with 3 magazines (a nice touch, indeed). It shot great.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, probably waiting to see how the G3C 40 sells first. It seems like the 40 is making a come back though, I'm seeing more and more posts praising the 40 than posts deriding it.
I actually think they have the reverse logic. They eventually release ANYTHING they can manufacture cheaply that has a shot at getting traction to test the waters.

Honestly, with the last 2-3 years of products nothing has felt particularly original. The GX4 Carry and the 856 Toro were solid offerings, especially for the price point, but they're not brilliant. Think of a configuration of existing gun that they don't already sell and someone at Taurus probably has it on a list for the engineering and manufacturing team to work on. The issue is probably mostly one of validation time than design time. G3 40 has the slight advantage of being large enough to import directly from Brazil without manufacturing steps in Georgia.

They slow rolled the release of the TS9 even though that has been in production for about 5 years for the original police contract. Taurus can be an odd duck.[/COLOR]

I have a TS9. Sometimes it's hard to believe that Taurus made it!!! Very robust good handling gun!!! I paid 279 at a lgs, but they can be had cheaper online. Also...... The TS9 uses the same mags as the TH9!!! So mags can be had!!!
