My black rifle. Lol. My favorite, the 702. An accurate booger right out of the box. Nice trigger, clean crisp break. The only thing I added was a Cabela's 22 scope. Sweet little shooters, very accurate. I've had it about 12 years now. ProMag makes a folding stock. I've entertained picking up a Rossi and cutting the barrel down to 16" for a compact version. When I bought this, Mossberg was also offering a 21" barrel on a different stock. Wish I had one of those. Rossi wasn't offering their version yet.

 

And the build project has started. This folding stock actually came in a couple days early. Woot woot.

 

So yes, so here are some shots of my project, just about completed. Added the Magpul folding stock, after painting it a FDE like shade. Also added on a Monstrum flash light, and cheap sighting laser on the opposite side.

For now, this one will stay with the stock sight, that came with mine. I technically am picking up another Saturday, that was ordered for this project. That one, once I have it, will get a FDE Reflex RMR site that I bought. The extra site will be kept as back up. This site is sighted in really well, so I didn't want to take it off just yet.

Let me know what you guys think. These little plinksters are so cheap and easy to customize and "upgrade". LOL

 

A couple of questions. What's the length of pull on that stock? Is it sturdy? Besides removing the front sight, anything else? The barrel almost looks threaded. Thanks!

 

I'll measure the stock once I get a chance.
Did not have to remove front sight. I bought the package deal one, from Academy, which comes with scope and threaded barrel, and carry case. Feels every bit as solid, if not more, than the stock that came on rifle.

 

Bought this a few months ago
Finally got it to the range. Not super impressive targets as this was off the shoulder @ 50 yrds . I’ll bench it next time and adjust the scope . I did not have any malfunctions, ammunition used was CCI Mini mags.
The butt stock is filled with resin and bb’s for a better feel and a home made camo paint job .

 

Yeah, I am not great off my shoulder. I use a bag rest for the fore end of the rifle. Much better shooting that way, at least for me personally.
Once I get the red dot mounted to the second RS22, I'll see if I am any better with standing shooting off shoulder.

 

So overall length of rifle with this set up is about 37-38".
The folding section lowers that by about 10"
The replacement stock itself is about 31" in length.

 

So, it is now completed. I have the Red dot on there now, and a cheap muzzle break from Ebay. 22 doesn't need a muzzle break of course, but adds to the finished look. The redot is not zero'ing that well, so it may get replaced.
