I've been holding off mentioning it until it's actually received (still awaiting Taurus test firing in Miami) but yes, I agreed to having my R461 replaced with an M605 in matte black. MY FFL will be charging me $50 for the full transfer process, so I DO hope the $50 courtesy rebate goes into effect.

My new Taurus M605 5 shot .357 Magnum snub-nose revolver, to replace my recalled Rossi R461, has arrived at my local FFL/Gun Shoppe. I dropped by and filled out the new 4473 this afternoon and paid their $50 transfer fee. I can take possession of the piece this Thursday any time after 3:00pm.

Taurus received my Rossi snubbie the 2nd of April, so the process took almost 5 months in total, not counting getting my original work order number back in mid September 2018.

Now I need to get informed about the potential for that $$$ courtesy rebate from Taurus.

That is crazy that the three day waiting period applies to a transaction which dates from the 2nd of April. I stopped in to my FFL a few days ago to do the 4473, paid him his 20 and got a receipt. Taurus is getting off cheap on the transfer and I am getting screwed for a 32.00 difference between what I paid for the 462-2 and the 605 I am getting in return.

I used a fav gun shop in Plainfield. Didn't shop past de-selecting my closest one that charges $75.

My experience with them has been different. I have bought several guns from Mega - phenomenal selection - I like the place. That's why I used them for the transfer even though it's about a 45 minute drive from home. My local joint, only 15 minutes away, is the one that's a real ripoff for transfers.

Just got off the chat with Taurus. My FFL sent the certificate with the service order and serial number on Friday. As of now they still cannot find it. She says..."give it a week"....

I got lucky - my FFL/gun shop does a LOT of regular business with Taurus so they were already on file. My only relatively short wait was for the gun to be test fired before shipping out.

Who knows...they way they operate there the gun could be shipped already. The CS girl and her Lead tried to look into the FFL partition and could not access it. State secret I suppose. The department "fiefdoms" may be one reason why they are so poor at handling their business.

My online chat person told me a max 6-8 weeks for test firing and shipment, it took about 2-1/2 for it to get to the FFL. In truth I'm just happy to have a snub nose back in my hands (almost-lol) and to be FINALLY done with the whole recall process.
Most all the reviews I read online and see in youtube vids on the M605 are quite positive, so there is that.

Found out about recall 08/01/2020 went online and filed. 10/24/2020 got shipping label and returned the 461-03. 11/11/2020 got email to call them. offered 605 but when i mentioned I would be losing a inch of barrel and a chamber I was offered a 65 which I accepted. FFL dealer emailed them his license same date. We'll see how long it takes to get in. No $50 refund yet. Guess my customer service is better than what I've been reading from others. Will post date when it comes in. Thanks to the users here for their info on the topics.

My replaced for the 461-03 came in, a model 65, on 11/27/2020 . It came in at closing time on the 25th and the place was closed on the 26th so I got it today. Customer Service was great. Almost didn't send it in because of the horror stories others posted so that's why I'm posting my timeline, glad I turned in the 461.

I found this thread the other night. It was the first I had heard about a recall. I checked and my 461 is on the list.... im kinda bummed. I really like this revolver.

Here is to hoping I get a fair replacement or cash. Because I really don't want a snubbie. Haha in a dream world, they'd have another 3 inch model to replace it with....

I got my shipping label right around news years day. I mailed gun out on January 5th. I called January 25th to follow up since I had no heard anything and was told gun would need to be replaced and was offered a Taurus 65. I accepted offer since I sent in a blued 4 inch 357 and they offered same in return. Was told gun was back ordered and they didn't have a time frame for when mine would be shipped out. I called back February 8th to follow up and was told gun had been shipped out on Friday. I picked up new gun yesterday.

Overall I did like the Rossi better. Grip felt more comfortable and I'm having some issues with thumb cylinder release button sticking. I'll put a few rounds thru the gun this weekend and give it a good cleaning and see if that helps.

Just need to wait on the $50 check now.

UPDATE: Cylinder doesnt open easily at all so this gun is going back to Taurus. Very disappointed with new handgun.

I put a used 462 on layaway not knowing about the recall. Beautiful gun and in good condition BTW. I've two questions. If you had it to do all over again would you still send it back? Those of you who kept the gun, do you believe you made the right decision?
