Hello

I'm heading East of Payson in the next week to do some camping and was just wondering if anyone knew of a place where could go shooting outdoors free from paying at firing ranges. I know generally that in Arizona that if your out in the boonies or a very respectable distance away from campsites facing the back drop of a hill or mountain, that it should be ok to shoot.
But whats your opinions on this? I'll be target shooting with my taurus 9mm and my new 20 ga. shotgun.

The Tonto National Forest Service put fire restrictions in affect on 05/11/11 banning all target shooting in the forest. Most likely we will have to wait for the monsoon to bring enough rain, another couple of months. Bummer! Big fines and possible jail time. And I just got a model 94 and a TCP. There is a range a few miles south of Payson. Open to the public Saturdays only for just $5.00. That's what I,m going to do. mesadeldoug

I'll look into it. I'm sure there's lots of people shooting in the tonto forest, but they are in remote areas. Hmmm, if the National Forest Service put fire restrictions in effect, than I'm gonna have to go to someplace really secluded, shooting range or take my chances.
Is Tonto National Forest Services and Bureu Land Management the same thing? Or does their bounderies cover the same ground?
