I had my hands on a Mossberg 590S.

What's different is that it will handle 1.75" up to 3" without any adapter. From a machinist perspective I noticed a redesigned lifter and bolt carrier are the heart of the change. The carrier is machine to account for a longer tongue on the lifter. There is a hard bumper to the back. I think it is to soften the magazine shoot out of the 1.75" shells since they are lighter to keep them from bouncing up. A better bumper came out on the OSP 2 Mini Clip for similar reasons and to accomodate 1.75" to 2."

This got me to thinking on what can be done to a current 500 action. Also to keep me from buying one. I have Mossberg lifters as well as carriers parts laying around. Machining the carrier slot would not affect it from being used in any Mossberg. The lifter is another thing. This will be my winter project as I have a lot of parts to put together an 8 + 1 590 as well as the factory heat shield.

I recommend checking out some of the reviews on the 590S. I can't wait for TFBtv does one like the Mossberg 88
James Reeves can come off a bit obnoxious, but I see it as more funny than serious.

Also, the 590S was not for sale, unless you had $1200. Retail is supposed to be $750

So it's basically just a 590 that can handle Mini Shells without the installation of an OpSol Mini Clip Adaptor? I suppose that's neat for those who don't already own a Mossberg 500, anyone else can just buy an adaptor for a few bucks.

Personally, I just don't like James Reeves. I've tried giving him a chance multiple times, but he just rubs me the wrong way. TFB really ought to use Hop more often, especially for cheap guns like the Maverick 88 because he sort of specializes in cheap guns, I hope they didn't let him go. Hop is kind of snarky, but with him it feels like an intentional joke, like he's doing a character, as if he's parodying James Reeves.

Oh he's definitely trying to be funny, it just falls flat because a joking snob is still a joking snob. Besides, sometimes I feel like his humor is a scapegoat to avoid assuming responsibility for some of the things he says. Like if he goes too far and receives criticism or reproval then he can pull a "I was only joking" sooner than admit fault. I don't know if he's ever done such a thing, but that's the impression that I get.

You know.. I always watch these videos regarless on who is doing video reviews as sometimes, there is some useful info to see. I never thought of the fanny pack carrying extra shotgun shells before. I have an extra small black pouch that I bought that I may do that.
