Well I do like the gun. It isn't the best .22LR I have ever owned. As a matter of fact, if leaves me longing a bit for my old Savage Bolt action Mark I. I say that not out of nostalgia, but my old Savage was two range seats down in my son's hands. Still, for the $$$, the Savage Model 60, I would give it a A-. My only real complaint was the trigger. It was hard to describe, but if there are aftermarket triggers, one will be in my future. Not smooth. Passable, but not the clean break I was used to. All shots were at 30 yards, Iron sights. It never jammed, and never had any kind of malfuntion. Even with 100 rounds of Remington Subsonic!!! That was a pleasant surprise. I had been warned that many 60 don't like them. Mine ate them up just fine. I shot 100 rounds of the Remmy subsonics, and 50 rounds of RWS Hi-Velocity. 0 problems. With my old eyes, I really need a scope, but for iron sigts at 30 yards. I would say this gun did just great.

Marlin 60 or Savage 60?

I believe that it's a Marlin Model 60. I put a Simmons .22 Mag 4x32 on mine, and the neighbor lady liked it so much that she nagged me into giving it to her for Christmas of 2014!! She still has it, and still loves it. :D

It is a Marlin 60. and my write up sounds a bit negative. I didn't mean for it to. I do really like the gun. All except the atrocious trigger, which will likely smooth out with time and a few good cleanings. Also, it was not or I was not shooting to the left, but rather a bit high. (Photo is sideways) Shots were high, because those little red dots were tough for me to see at 30 yards, so I made a mental "X" and shot for it. My 4X32 Simmons will be mounted on it pretty soon, and will help alleviate that problem as well.

I would also like to do a shout-out to Terry Waldens who runs a fantastic gun range in Coffee county TN, and will be mounting the scope for me.

I looked for some of my Model 60 targets but couldn't find any. I may have to shoot some new ones to see how much good my eye surgery did. All my 22 targets are from the Savage MK II FV. The Model 60 is just as accurate. Get the scope and you won't see even half the holes. You will have the centers tore out in no time.

Have you tried the pinhole in the tape trick to sharpen your sight picture? Or a tiny hole in a pair of black lens sunglasses?

No.
Tell me about this hole in tape trick, please. Thanks.
