Did the burn rate of Green Dot change over the years or remain the same? I have Green Dot data available for all the calibers listed for modern Green Dot powder.

 

Check out the powder manufactures web site for reloading data by caliber/projectile weight.

 

I did, olfarhors, but GreenDot- is no longer listed as a handgun powder. The last Allient Powder Guide, I got (2013) only lists BlueDot for 9mm, .357 & .40. And RedDot, for 38 Special.

I don't use the dots anymore, I have used red dot and blue dot quite a bit long ago and green dot on occasion.
With all (A lot) of the powder companies being owned by the same group I see a lot of powders being discontinued and possibly others being renamed, this is never good for the consumer when competition decreases.

For 9mm, a favorite load is 5.0 grains of Alliant Green Dot under almost any generic 124 grain FMJ. OAL=1.15 inches Velocity runs 1150 fps or better. This load runs my 1936 vintage Luger Pistol very nicely whereas slower powders do not. This load will also run a Sterling Mark II SMG. Note that listed maximum is 5.2 grains - Alliant Data.

I also used to use Green Dot for 158 grain LSWC Cast Bullet loads in .38 Special.

Lymans Reloading Manuals still have some Green Dot loads listed.

Note also that the current more clean burning formulation still has the same burning rate as the older version, according to Alliant.

 

That's some old powder. ;-)

 

If it was ever opened I don't know how much I would trust it....

 

Take a whiff I guess.

 

It still works. I had to toss the Alcan AL7, though.
