Does anybody shoot a Taurus 450?

Anybody shooting one of the 45 Colt pistols from the 450 series? I think these were discontinued around 2006 and are one of the last Taurus revolvers to truly accommodate the 45 Colt instead of the .410. I'm interested in a 45 Colt but don't want the bulk of even a 2.5" .410 cylinder.

Those things are pretty scarce apparently. Only see one mentioned here ocassionally. I could get real interested in one, real fast. In fact, I've only seen pictures.

There was one for sale here a couple of years ago, and I could kick myself for not jumping on it.

hi
I have one with the snub nose barrel. I haven't wrung the handloads out in it yet. I'm not happy with the throat dia. as I was hopeing to shoot my cast 200 gr. HP's that I shoot in my 45 acp's. The 250 rnfp cast boolits I had on hand don't give the rapid recovery I like, but they did shoot close to poa. I think the 200 mihec hp's will be the bullet most usefull, and if I have to I'll load them with a wad under the plain base to prevent leading and improve accuracy.

I've had mine for over 20 years. Ultra lite. And Ive loved this gun since day 1. Shoots nice, feels good. Only concern, which really isn't being that it's not the gun you want to have in a shootout but a lethal backup with good stopping power, is after shooting a couple cylinders quickly, the light metal expands to cause ejecting the spent casings a bit of a problem. But it is often my quick grab go to gun if rushing out the door, as it slides right inside my pocket and goes everywhere unnoticed. Light enough I even forget I have sometimes...well can't tell it's there.

Well look at the Raging Bull in .45 Colt, it was made in the early 90's. I bought mine in '93 and Taurus only made them for less than 3 years. Today they are like trying to find a unicorn like the .41 Magnum.

I'd like to see them made again.

Just a heads up - this thread was started in August, 2012 and most (but not all) of those participants are no longer around. It was briefly brought back to life in 2021, and now once again. If you don't see any responses to your question, you are welcome to start a new thread in the appropriate forum.

This happens with a lot of our new members. Just remember that when you're going through old threads, be sure to check the dates in them before posting. And welcome to TaurusArmed.net!
