I've been considering trying one of these on my Canik TP9 SFX which doesn't have the integral reflex sight base in the slide, but rather a dovetail. Does anyone have any experience with the ADE model here? Their earlier ones had issues with dependability and a bad design which had the battery compartment on the bottom of the sight, making it necessary to dismount the optic to swap batteries.

This model has the battery slot on the side, is smaller and the reviews tend to support the idea that dependability is much improved. I would have to get a dovetail mount...if a rail mount is used, the height of the sight gets much higher.

An observation. I originally put a Vortex Venom on my G2C but took it off because I had trouble with rapid target acquisition. Replaced it with an E-Series Viridian red dot and it made all the difference. If you haven't shot a handgun with this type of sight, you might consider trying before buying.

That's one of the reasons that I don't want to sink 250.00 plus into the project...the other one is that I am cheap..I mean frugal. ;)

I have a laser sight on my 300 BLK pistol and don't use it much at the range rather relying on the RDS on the top of that upper.

I have an SFX with a Vortex sight. It is slower to acquire the sight, but once I have, it's quick to transition between targets. The other thing about using the reflex sight is that it feels like I am pointing the pistol slightly downwards.

I go to a tactical shoot once a month, and prefer to use pistols with iron sights. The reflex sights can be more difficult to use outdoors. I have one on a 22A and it was washed out when trying to shoot white steel targets.

The cheaper one has the battery on the bottom...remove the optic to change battery...maybe have to re-zero.

Depending on the warranty it may be woth a shot, reflex sight mounted on the slide I would be worried about it holding zero at that price point. I do have 2 reflex sights but paid for the Burris Fastfire III. It does hold zero on my 1911. Once you get used to the sight you can pick up target just as fast as with irons maybe even faster.

well I personally am not drawn to the red dot nor the laser on a pistol... why --well because I have no intention of adding weight/ mass to a carry weapon.. so I would not need one myself.
on a competition weapon or a assault rifle/shotgun yes --- but not on a carry/ self defense weapon.
but thats just me and my take, plus its just one more thing that can go bad when you need it the most.

I'd be a bit hesitant to use a cheap red dot on a pistol slide, just because even the fancy ones can get beaten to death by the recoil. As for target acquisition, a bunch of guys recommend using suppressor-height sights with a pistol red dot so you can transition between the irons to the dot during presentation - once you can see the front sight, you can usually also see the dot.

Based on my experience running a 25mm tube style micro dot on my Mark IV, I'm really eyeing the Aimpoint Acro - the tube layout makes.picking the dot up easier to me.

YIKES...600 bucks at Optics Planet. Go big or go home?

That's why I was exploring the lesser options since I don't want to put big money into it and learn that I don't care for it. Of course the flip side concerns what you say, the reports of the glass loosening or breaking..or the insides getting loose making the image blurry or diffuse makes me wonder if I am tossing 80 bucks down the drain. That's why I was wondering if anyone else has the ADE sight installed and operational.
