Call Taurus, maybe you get lucky and just have to send back the cylinder...kinda doubt it though.

Problem solved!! Well duh. I scrubbed out the cylinder real good and now all is well. Lesson learned. Before I fired the revolver I ran a bore brush trough the barrel, but not the cylinders.

I just bought a 692 Executive and experienced this same issue, 9mm rounds in the cylinder would not clear the frame. Cleaning the cylinder fixed it, so I joined the forum to tell ya thanks.

Haven't shot 9mm through it yet but yesterday 38 & 357 was a pleasure. 357 didn't seem bad, didn't feel much kick. My first rodeo with a ported barrel.

When I said cleaning the 9mm cylinder fixed it, I meant that the cylinder cleared the frame with a moon clip of rounds loaded. That was my observation at home, on the bench, but I hadn't shot it yet.

Yesterday I shot it. The first moon clip of rounds loaded and fired normally, but the next moon clip of rounds was back to not clearing the frame. If I push each round into the cylinder it barely clears, but the cylinder doesn't move freely with trigger pull (I did not fire any of the second clip). I'm planning to contact Taurus and see what they say. Seems to me the cylinder drilling is too tight. Or maybe a moon clip problem, I've never used them before but there's only one way the rounds fit in.

You should load a cylinder or 9mm without the clips and see if it works. There is a tolerance on the rim thickness of the brass and yours just might be too thick to work with the clips

 

Seems to be something with the Federal rounds.

Winchester and Remington rounds load w/o hitting the frame and cylinder spins free. I measured the case diameter and length of all three and they are the same, although case length may not be quite accurate on a loaded round. Bullet diameters are the same. Rim diameter for Fed & Win is 8.7mm, Rem is 8.4mm. Overall round lengths, the Winchester (FMJ) is longest @19.4mm, Federal (FMJ) is 19.2mm, Remington (HP) is 27.3mm.

I have yet to fire the Winchester and Remington rounds.

I think the Federal bullets are the issue. I thought they measured the same at the end of the case, but checking the bullet fit at the exit end of the cylinder, the Federal bullet does not quite fit into the bore like the Remington and Winchester bullets do. Rem & Win easily fit up to the case, but it takes some pressure to get the Fed to seat. So it would seem the Fed bullets are hitting the rim in the cylinder.

Thread update - I've been firing 9mm Winchester, Remington, & Magtech rounds in the 692 and figgered it didn't like Federal rounds. Now my reloads with 147gr Hornady XTP boolits also will not fully seat into the cylinder...

A caliper indicates the bullets are all 9.0mm but I can tell there's a slight difference between the Win/Rem/MT bullets and the Hornady XTP, a difference so slight the caliper reads 9.0 for both but I notice the caliper on the Win/Rem is not as tight a fit after measuring the Hornady. So it's a very small difference. I'd called Taurus back in Dec and they seemed OK with telling me Federal rounds are crap, don't use them. But now it's Hornady XTPs.

I hate picky firearms. I'm going to call Taurus again and see if they will look at the cylinder.

Had the same issue with a new Charter Arms Coyote 380, All it took was a quick cleaning to fix.

 

This isn't a cleaning issue. I tried that, and initially thought it fixed it, but it didn't.
