about the same here!
Most areas are heavily wooded and the 150 lb deer are the exception not the rule.
Now they are not Florida deer but everybody talks about the 175-200 pound buck , but in reality they aren't close to that.
all I can say is what I experienced with 223 caliber and the results in actual hunt situations.
Personally I want to dispatch the animal as quickly and cleanly as possible, I hate to track a barely wounded animal for hours.
I know its one of a very few handguns that will set off tannerite targets

I had that problem with a .300 Win. mag. on southern whitetail. punch through to fast with no expansion and almost no blood trail.

22 TCM is one of those calibers that doesn't have a huge following and may not last. The ammo is very expensive as well.
What would you consider expensive? I've seen 22 TCM recently for about $16 to $18 per box of 50. That doesn't seem too bad. Last year it was up around $35 per box, but so was every other caliber as well.

22 TCM is picking up a following. I've had a 22TCM/9mm RIA combo for about a year and a half. It's a sweet little round. Some people claim it outperforms the 5.7x28. I should be picking up my 22TCM rifle this week or next. I'm hoping a polymer gun company picks up the round soon, but we'll see.

Here is a list where you can get 22TCM ammo for under $20 at multiple places:

(2) Ammunition and brass are not widely available. You can't go down to Walmart or any LGS and get ammo or brass.
My local Cabela's had some 22TCM ammo in stock the last time I was there. I already had plenty, but it was cool to see that. I think only ARMSCOR makes it now, but hopefully somebody else will pick it up. (If that's possible--I'm not sure how patents work, but ARMSCOR would probably benefit from another ammunition company picking it up.)

I'm pretty sure you are correct that Armscor is the only one producing itit, at least that's how it was last time I checked. I have kind of been watching the availability of this caliber because I mind of want one. I am starting to see brass become available for reloading which is good because I reloadreload and probably wouldn't be buying any factory ammo as long as I could get brass. I know you can trim down .223 brass, but that's too much of a hassle.

The RIA 22 TCM rifle takes the same magazines as the high-capacity double-stack 22 TCM 1911. I'm getting one of them probably within the next week.
Finally got my Rock Island Armory 22TCM bolt-action rifle, which I won on Facebook in an essay contest about a year and a half ago. Various delays, including storms in the Philippines, which delayed getting wood for the stocks, prevented the factory from sending it out to me until last week. I picked it up last week the day after my birthday, just before New Years Eve.

The precision manufacturing on this firearms is excellent! I can't wait to try it out. Here's a terrible photo taken with my iPhone that shows the 22TCM rifle and the Rock Island Armory 1911, which shoots the same round, which is basically a .223-short. They started with a standard .223 round and cut it it down to just a little longer than a 9mm round, to make a pistol round from the standard .223 Remington round.

The rifle and the 1911 take the same magazines. The rifle is pictured with the standard 17-round pistol magazine, with the stock 5-round rifle magazine just under the gun.The day after my birthday last week, my local dealer let me know it was in. When he found out it was my birthday, he even gave me a free gun transfer for my birthday.

I also got a scope for it (it has no sights). Can't wait to shoot it! (Yeah, I know this the handgun sub-forum, but my 22TCM 1911 is also in the picture. LOL.)

I believe the 22 TCM is going to be around for a long time ...being that one of the largest ammo manufactures ..own the round ...Armscor ...now they have a slick bolt action rifle in this round ..and hints of a 1911 based carbine hi-cap kit is in the works ......ouch ...what a combo...
