Dang, that really sucks. I hope they come out of it stronger and able to stand on their own two feet. I just placed an order for more bullets but I hadn't heard anything about this.
X-Treme is only a subsidiary:

Freedom Munitions, maker of new and remanufactured ammunition, has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

In a surprising turn of events, OutdoorHub has just learned that Idaho based Freedom Munitionsappears to be traveling down a similar path as other brands, such as Remington, have this year. Bankruptcy filings have been submitted on June 8th, 2018 for Howell Munitions & Technology and multiple companies under the HMT umbrella.

The firearm industry has had a rocky road over the past two years, with the daily threats of gun control under President Obama having slowed under the Trump Presidency and a Republican held house.

The HMT umbrella covers a number of companies, all playing a different role in the manufacturing and sales process of their ammunition...

The following companies, all owned by HMT, have submitted separate Chapter 11 filings in the State of Nevada: (more)

Guess I need to buy some more bullets quick and pull them out of it ;) Seriously though it would suck to lose Xtreme. They really make great bullets. Some folks plating is just too soft. Theirs is more like a jacket.

Freedom Munitions filing chapter 11 re-organization.

Got an e-mail from Freedom Munitions telling that they are re-orgainzing under chapter 11. I've bought quite a bit from them in the past. Looks like they may no longer be a viable resource for cheap ammo.

Wow! I've purchased my fair share from them.
Hold the panic:

Chapter 11 - Bankruptcy Basics[FONT=&quot]This chapter of the Bankruptcy Code generally provides for reorganization, usually involving a corporation or partnership. A chapter 11 debtor usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time. People in business or individuals can also seek relief in chapter 11.

BackgroundA case filed under chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code is frequently referred to as a "reorganization" bankruptcy...

I've merged the two threads.
In my mind it's not that it's a gun related business as much as it is yet another small business struggling to stay open and profitable. Not that We may lose a supplier but that people may lose jobs.

Now in my case I am pleased that they have been doing business with Cabela's, which is where I've been buying mine. For me the sales tax works out to be about the same as shipping. Which as a matter of fact I just finished loading the last of a box of 200gr 45acp. so I need more. I know from reading there are a good number of members here that use their products!
I hate hearing this as I am a fan. I run their bullets in everything except my .308 Win. I've always had great service from them.
I noticed (and this might just be a fluke one time deal) but it took quite a time to get my order from them, like 12-14 days.
and i also noticed that they had doubled the shipping charge on orders from 5 bucks to 10 bucks.
I like and use the product almost exclusively in range ammo.

I understand merging the two threads. However, I think this should have been left in "firing line" as it affects more members than just those who reload and it is a firearms related issue.

I am a customer as well and was surprised to see the email since I get one or two regular emails from them every day. They have received quite a bit of positive mention and PR on a number of other boards and websites. Hope they make it.
While I was surprised to get the notice, I did sense something was afoot as they last sale they had was chintzier than historical...-10% and no free shipping. They nothing for Father's day...

They have been my go to for bullets also and hope they reorganize to maintain the product availability.

Yes I was charged $10 flat shipping rate on my last order as well. I hope I don't have to wait 2 weeks but if they laid a bunch of people off, like I suspect they probably had to, then it could take a while.

The other day when I was at Cabela's there was hardly any bullets at all. Just some Berry's and a few Rainier here and there. Think that's related? As in limited supply vs the demand or just a hot selling week?
I have to think that much of this is from the rapid rise in prices these companies foisted upon their customers due to various shootings that pushed panic buying.

Instead of keeping their prices at reasonable levels, they raised them to a point where only those that did not have ammo and supplies put aside had to pay the big prices.

This led to less sales, albeit at the higher prices. Now that panic buying has subsided, they are losing their shirts on overpriced items that are not selling.

It would have been much better to keep prices reasonable and sales steady.

But what do I know? I'm just a consumer.
I placed my order well over a week ago, and I finally got an email that it had shipped today. :( We'll see how long that takes....this also explains why the Cabelas shelf with Xtreme bullets is completely empty the past 3 times I've been there. I may have to start buying Berrys until they get everything turned around.

There was a short lived spike in copper prices:

Lead prices are stable to declining:

I had heard about the Freedom Munitions Chapter 11 but did not know Xtreme was included in the big picture. :( I too have ordered quite a bit of products from them. I hope they get themselves strong again and can keep the good pricing going.
