So I got an e-mail about an hour ago from Natchez saying they had 308 and 5.56 ammo in stock. I was sitting in front of my computer when the e-mail 'dinged' and went straight over to Natchez's site. It was moving at a snails pace, but I managed to get an order in for a 500 round box of Independence XM193's. Wasn't cheap - $324.95 for 500 - but not that bad either. Now, one hour after the e-mail their site is offline. Man! Are people ever snapping up the ammo!

I got 'er done, but it was an exercise in patience. I had a good 1-2 minute delay between every screen. I almost gave up on it, but decided to stick it out - driving on to the ranger objective, and all that :D.

I think they probably sold what they had and shut the system down - they were really getting swamped. Either that or the 'swampers' shut it down. They may have launched their own denial of service attack! :D

How about slow and gimpy?

I really could use some .308 though. I got a new rifle and only two boxes of ammo with it. It was supposed to be only one box, but since I bought a gun, I got two. Wow, that ought to last me a while. :p

The .308 they had was belted 148 gr ammo. Looked like it was setup for an M60 with a disintegrating belt. The price was $249.99 for 200 rounds. I've been wanting to restock on 55 gr XM193's for a while, and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. At least I think I was - I haven't received the shipment, yet. ;)

They said it might take a couple weeks. I figure it's too damn cold out to do any shooting now, so I wasn't worried about the wait. I'm just getting setup for when the weather breaks. With the volume they seem to be doing I'm wondering if they're drop shipping stuff from the manufacturer. That would account for the longer lead time, but it's just conjecture. I'll have to remember to take a good look at the return address label when the box gets here.

That beautiful rifle you bought isn't exactly an everyday shooter. I've got a box of .270 that I've been hunting off of for years. Just a couple of rounds used each season.

Just came from the site, and it's still available, but ain't no way I'm paying that kind of dough for it!
They sold out of the 5.56 but they're still showing the .308 in stock. I agree - pretty steep for surplus ammo. But if you've got an M60 it might be just the ticket. :D
