I was just reading a novel that made frequent use of the statement, "Er..."

Has anyone here ever heard "Er..." used in conversation? Just curious. In fact I've wondered about this every time I saw it, since I first saw it, when I was a kid. I have never heard anybody say, "Er..."

I hear politicians using the word all the time. For example, "I am... err... uh... for the right to carry arms... err... but... uh... when it rains on a Tuesday at 3:00 PM in the Sahara desert and when caught on video tape by an Eskimo... err.. any questions?"

Funny you should mention that, My boss says it all the damn time hahaha instead of using uh like most people do when they are trying to think of something before they say it, he says er it drives everyone here crazy lol

I've heard different English people say er and erm before while visiting the UK. Here in Kentucky, I've heard a few say it, stammering while thinking of something to add to the convo if they were at a loss for words.

It always bugged me when It said that in books so.....I stopped reading haha
