There is always a cost for a criminal act, and sometimes it is high.

It was a brave and determined woman there. Congratulations on defending her life and liberty.

Reading the story infuriated me when I got to the point of neighbors in that area. "it's a shame..."? No, it's not a shame. he was a thug that would have killed his victim. Instead he's dead. Good riddins. The more lawful firearms carriers the more thugs will be second guessing their career choices.

And of course this story won't get any more publicity than this. Who wants to hear about a woman who defended herself from an attacker with a firearm?

Exactly! It will only go nationwide if he was victorious in severely injuring her! Great job lady! Maybe more people there get ccw's and change the anti gun climate there?

You can get a license to conceal in Chicago?
Yes but it took a Supreme Court decision to do it. The anti gun politicians in Illinois fought it but lost. That decision should've been applied to every "may issue" state as well, IMHO, but it hasn't yet. What the exact legal reasons for that is IDK.

Driving is not a right that is written into the BOR but yet DL's in every state are "shall issue" if you meet the standards. Can you imagine the uproar if a city or state said that they were only going to issue DL's to people who can show a substantial need to drive, as defined and decided by some bureaucrat or elected offical? The state or city "might issue" or "might not" issue? Maybe help the process along by paying a graft payment to the board member who approves your "reason" as happened in NYC? Thankfully Illinois at least was forced by the courts to do the right and legal thing and fortunitely lives have been saved because of this.

Thanks a lot. You just let the cat out of the bag. All these cities that don't like gasoline powered cars are now going to start restricting driver licenses to their citizens.

Actually it's been played on the main stream Chiraq news for a couple of days. Without giving sympathy to the dead thug.

Cities don't issue drivers licenses, but any state politicians who wants to try that should publically speak for and vote for it. Preferably in 2020 so when
the vast majority of the voters have their licenses restricted they will remember who is responsible.

Actually California is considering a similar scheme, only not restricting DL's, just the ability to register the gasoline powered car if it is a new one. The bill didn't get any traction in 2018 but the new governor is allegedly supportive of the idea, so with a new house it might actually have a chance.
