woman has to shoot burglar after warning shot fails to scare him off

The news story mentions the burglar is a teen, like that is supposed to matter somehow. Anyone crazy enough to continue to try to break into a house where they know there's a person inside who is armed with a gun is dangerous IMHO.

But he was such a good boy. That poor woman showed a lot of restraint for the victim of a home invasion.

Meh........it's Parkland which is just outside of Tacoma.
You can keep a good musical rhythm to the sound of gunshots in that area.
Throw in nearby Lakewood and you might as well be living in Serbia.

It goes like this...

"Bang" (woman actually shoots perp)

Woman screams: "Stop or I'll shoot" ...any audible witnesses will testify she fired a warning shot and gave a verbal warning.

"Bang" woman fires a round off target...audible witnesses will assume this when she actually shot the perp. It's impossible to tell ballistically which shot came first.

Of course it's wrong to fire a "warning shot" and will get you a reckless conduct charge in most jurisdictions.

What irks me is that these kinds of stories happen every day and the major media never mentions them. Yes, I know it has an agenda, but we need to build a way to get the word out through a neutral source. Imhave tomgive that some thought.

Warning shots (may) demonstrate that you were NOT in imminent danger at the time that the/those shot was fired.

It does not mean that the situation did not progress to a higher threat level & that you indeed feared for your life. OR that the alleged perp was dilusional and possibly believed that he was Superman and immune to lead projectiles and mere humans with their puny ‘weapons’...

I’m in your house. You show that you have a functioning firearm and I don’t. I KNOW which way I’m heading and FAST! >>>>>>>>

As Russian comedian Yakov Smirnoff once said, “I enjoy being in America. You have so many things we never had in Russia — like warning shots.”

1. Never fire a warning shot.
2. Make sure you either hit COM or CNS with those shots.

Dead criminals tell no tales.
I have always been trained to never fire a warning shot. It's a waste of good lead.

I think warning shots are fired by someone who isn't ready to employ deadly force against an imminent threat. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and posit what you think you would do in this type situation but when it actually happens the results might be quite different. The realization that you actually might take a life will make many pause before acting, and will also cause the good guy to place second in the gunfight. Not the case in this instance.
Glad it ended well for the lady.

As far as I'm concerned, the only person who gets the advantage of a warning shot is the second thug in the group. If I'm concerned enough to pull the trigger, I'm at the point where warnings are irrelevant or tactically stupid.

This is about the only "neutral" source you're going to find, and a few other blogs. Look at what happened in Detroit. A Bloods affiliated gang banger released early from prison and several associates shoots 22 people. Since it's not a politically correct shooting, it hasn't been defined by the press as a mass shooting. No one is marching in protest. No die-ins in the street. So much for black lives mattering.

It goes against the main stream's agenda of keeping people's heads in the sand so it will never be spread. They'll show a raccoon climbing a building everywhere but won't show a good person defending themselves anywhere. Which happens all the time compared to being rare???

I thought warning shots were for the other bad guys still outside that were waiting on the one that just got his butt shot inside?
I DON"T use semi autoes for the purpose of having extra rounds so I can fire warning shots!
