I read in another thread that Taurus had something in mind to replace them but didn't think at the time to ask the member to elaborate. Now the curiosity is getting to me. Anybody know anything about it?

I'd love it if that were true but there seems to be conflicting information going around even though they had them at SHOT. Anybody have some actual good info on the TH series?

Edit to elaborate the conflicting information as to whether or not they'll be coming to the states is what I was referring to.

Remember, anything new they come out with becomes a potential replacement for any defective
recall gun sent in. I bet there isn't much new for a while at least not in the U.S.

I always understood that the 8xx series was kind of a transition gun from the 24/7 Pro series to the 24/7 G2 and Mil Pro G2 line. The two big things that happened with the 8xx series was the takedown lever/switch instead of a takedown pin, and the trigger blade safety. It also gave people who wanted a hammer something to smile about.

I never thought the 800 series should go away, but they didn't ask my opinion either.

Well, after I read this thread yesterday, I send an email to the Taurus marketing contractor folks directing their attention specifically to this thread. This is the pertinent part of the response that I received:

"The guns that were seen at the SHOT Show were not for the US market. (as much as I like hammer guns, they don’t sell well in the USA compared to striker-fire pistols). I wouldn’t have anyone holding their breath if they are waiting for something like that. But…we are see some good stuff brewing.

Spectrum, not that you asked…it is pushed back…again. The engineers are continuing testing the gun. They are not going to let it out until it is perfect. Kudos to them and for all of the right reasons. EVERYONE is getting a bit over anxious."

After all these years, I've been able to kinda/sorta learn to read between the lines of marketing-ese, can you? :(

Yep, I guess its kind of hard for us half blind old guys to see the Long term Business plan of Taurus?
you kind of wonder how long they can ride the 92 wagon, even Beretta has moved on from the model.

Nobody in the USA wants or buys a hammer fired weapon!!
they are a bunch of old War timers if they do!
thats why the CZ 75 series, the 1911, revolvers and the Beretta weapons are so seldom seen at gun shops or ranges being fired.
I thought everyone knew that!
Spectrum ?? I thought that was discontinued when the PT1911 Commander was?
He-He-He , they have waited so long to get this on the market its grand appearance may be at CDNN on close out.

The appeal for me at least was the hammer fired design of the 800 series. Same for the TH series... crying shame. I understand a hammer fired gun may not sell as well as a striker fired gun but you can't say there not a market for it.

I LOVE a hammer, IF it's single/double. SO MUCH SAFER TO CARRY. It's not going to negligently discharge and you can still fire the thing in haste probably just as accurately as you would anyway with a striker. I just found the Taurus 800's and was just crushed when I found out they were discontinued. I posted as much. I think the pendulum is swinging back to hammer a bit.

If you click on the Rossi tab while there are quite a few surprised as to what they offer and do not. The same goes for Taurus offerings here. A lot of models still offered "over there" are not offered in the USA anymore.

Where are they getting their info that a hammer-fired pistol wouldn't sell in the US?

Heck, that just straight up defies common sense/knowledge given the persistent, ever-growing popularity of the 1911. Not to mention the Beretta 92 and by extension their own PT92.

I swear, what is it with firearms manufacturers these days and being so absurdly out-of-touch that it's honestly as though they don't do any market research of their own, or even look at their own sales figures for that matter?

Moreover, why are firearms manufacturers so afraid to test the waters in case their information is flawed? Seriously, it's not like it would hurt them to import a small number of their new pistols into the US just to test the waters and see how well they do. In fact, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

My 24/7 is going to sit in the safe until this recall thing is resolved AND, note
the AND, there are more choices than a PT-111 to replace it.

I am patient.

Also, if I don't use it it's unlikely to break requiring a trip to Miami :)
