What would you do? Pt 145 may head back to Miami

Not even two hundred rounds through it and I have had at least 5 FTF's, 2 failure to eject (slide didn't even move after rounds fired), and the safety doesn't work!

I know some of you may be thinking "was it cleaned?" Yes, I cleaned and lubed it prior to all range visits. The gun is amazingly accurate and fits my need as a CCW piece very well, but I'm worried about its reliability. The safety, at times, would not fully engage and as a result a round could be fired in the safe position. Any ideas?

What is Taurus' turn around time for repairs?

I also had a couple failure to feeds.
I would put a few more rounds (200-300) to see if it works itself out, however if the safety doesn't work, then it needs to go back to Taurus. It is not normal and needs attention. I've not sent anything back, so others will have to speak to that.

We do know there is an anomoly in the MilPro with the safety... if the trigger is partially pressed when the safety is engaged, the gun will fire, but not recycle the trigger for the next shot until the safety was disengaged. I am presuming that you are keeping your finger out of the trigger guard when you engage the safety?
Definantly not the norm. I sent mine back for what turned out to be a bogus problem, don't ask, embarassing story. :bang:

It took right at 6 weeks.
You are correct, I did not put my finger on the trigger while engaging the safety. I'll probably send it back sometime next week. What a let down. I hope Taurus can fix my problem.
Send it back you have a lifetime warranty let them fix it. :)
It took about 6 weeks for mine also to come back into my hands from Taurus. Warranties are great. :)
With the exception of the safety issue (which definitely needs to be fixed right) I would have asked what ammo are you using? Your gun may not like what you are feeding it.

And there has been more than I person around here to send a gun back in to the manufacturer for a problem that was operator stupidity.... and this one wasn't a Taurus.

Those of you that sent your guns back to Taurus, did they fix the problem(s)?

Are you happy with their customer service?
they fixed it and thier customer service is great.

Yes. Their feedback system leaves a little bit to be desired. It took about 2 weeks before their online system showed that they had my gun. They said they were backed up due to the holidays. Once it showed my gun was in their inventory, there wasn't really much info provided. Phone calls yielded better results. Another 2-3 weeks later, I had the gun back.
I would also suggest you try some better ammo, if you have been having problems with Winchester Valu Pak, or some such.

My PT145 is 100% reliable unless I am using lower powered ammo. I know it is EXPENSIVE to shoot the good stuff, but that MAY be the issue.
GerbilWarrior is correct. I had the same problem with mine also. I thought there was a issue since the gun was jamming and it was way left and low. I had to change ammo a few times but I finally found the one that my gun liked. I was using the white box stuff, now I'm at wolf and heading to loading rounds myself. (I'm still not happy and don't feel like paying out the a** for good ammo)
I agree that the ammo may be the issue, but the manual safety doesn't work 100% of the time. To me this is a major flaw and it needs repaired. Yesterday I shot a few rounds through my pistol and clicked my safety "on." I then pointed my gun down range, pulled the trigger and bam! I did this multiple times!

I would sent it back for that definatley!
Send it in and write thorough explanation of everything that happened. Be very explicit. The more information you can provide the better the technician will understand your problem. They will make it right.
beagler, I'm curious. This surely can't be the same gun you mentioned...

Re: Poll: Have You Had Problems

I had numerous with my PT 145. I ened up taking it back to my dealer and trading it in for a smith/wesson M&P 40. My dealer gave me my money back since it was only a month old, and I have washed my hands of Taurus.

I'd kind of like to figure out which story is straight?

I'm right there with ya
Yep, same gun. I can certainly understand how mistakes are made in assembly lines, and I agree that mistakes occur with all firearm manufactures. With this in mind, I would have taken the same action if my PT 145 were a Glock, Sig, or a Kimber. It sounds like many of you have had good luck with your pistols, and I hope you continue to do so. Thanks for everyones' input prior to me making my decision.
