What Self-Defence Ammo to use

WWB JHPs will get the job done, expand, and penetrate deep enough to get the job done. The proof is in the actual real world track record.

Pistol and revolver ammo get the blame for not stopping people when it's usually a fact that even rifle or shotgun power levels wouldn't make much of a difference either.

For example:

I'm taking this all in fun. :p ;)

Just don't smile and wave up. I'm repositioning the orbital nuclear platforms over your residences now. If a large shadow gets larger and blots out the sun,you don't have time to run.  :guns:

Kidding folks. Maybe. BUUWAHAHAHAHA!!

You'll all know me when you see me. Got the little red wagon stuffed with encyclopedias and a dictionary. Station wagon, that is. LOL

There's the Federal EFMJ stuff for those who want to use ball ammo.

Corbon's powerball and the newer polymer tipped ammo has impressive performance, but the use in a majority of revolvers and pistols hasn't been attempted yet.

There were some revolver function tests and the polymer ammo worked in the few that it ws tested in. Have to look and find the source though. Yes, these exist in .357 magnum and .44 magnum if memory serves right.

Here's a good one for FMJ. Reason that is.

Professional hunters, some that is, carry revolvers in Africa for back up. This for big cat problems.

These have been, or are, been known to contain FMJ. Some of these loads are in .38 S&W to .45 caliber. Usually of week nature as far as power levels go.

The FMJ , even in the sedate loads, will penetrate cat skulls with ease or deep enough to vitals.

The documented cases were of a lion or tiger charge and attempted mauling or killing of the hunter.

Several professional hunters pulled the revolver they were carrying and shot the miscreant cat dead. Injuries were serious to not bad. All the hunters claimed that without the revolver they would have been killed or severly mauled.

All injuries were of the recoverable kind and not crippling.

Backup hunters could not intervene in the animal-hunter fight. Too much thrashing round to get a lock on the target without hitting the hunter that needed saving.

So there is some precedent for this.

Don't mind me. I'm just presenting both sides of the story and equation. Texastaurusguy, I think we took what you really meant without thinking anything else. No harm, no foul.
