Would like to get for the wife a 3 inch or 4 inch .38 special Taurus that looks similar to the model 66. In other words a gun made in the same time period as that one...what would I be looking for in a model number???

Anyone have pictures to help me decide.

Thanks, TB C45

The Taurus Model 82 is the .38Special model with a 4-inch barrel. The Model 85 comes in 2-inch and 3-inch barrel, although the 3-inch barrel may be a little harder to find.

The Model 65 and 66 are .357Mag models, which is fine, they also shoot .38Special but they will usually cost a little more.

Here are some photos:

Those are Model 82s. I didn't find any photos of 3-inch Model 85s, some here on the board somewhere, I'm sure.

Thanks Jay 1958, the model 82 looks pretty cool, but that guys price (the second one) is a little steep...but the gun looks like new.

Plus, those auctions with reserve has not been met...totally suck. Why don't they just go ahead and name their price.

Thats a pet peeve of mine too. When I've sold guns on Gunbroker I never used a Reserve. I set my minimum price as my minimum price so everyone knew what I wanted. I usually tossed in an extra by covering the shipping in CONUS.

A female friend of mine who I'm getting into shooting likes my M65 with 38's. A 357 gun might be the way to go due to greater availability.
