9mm: Corbon 115gr +P
357 magnum (snubbie): Win. 110gr JHP medium velocity
38 Special (rarely carried): Rem. 158gr LHP +P
9x18 (rarely carried): Hornady 95gr XTP
I'm trying to find time to do some testing for 9mm and 357 mag. I'm debating a change in 9mm to 124gr +P Gold Dots. In 357 I need to test a few different medium velocity loads for my snubbie as well as get my recoil tolerance back up to where it used to be so I can comfortably carry full power again in my medium frames (Fed. 125gr JHP).
I'm also moving this topic to Factory Ammo as I think its a better fit there.
After testing for reliability and accuracy, I've found that my different guns require different loads.
Kel-Tec P32------------Fiocchi .32 ATHP
Colt Government Model .380---Starfire 90 gr. SFHP
Taurus Model 85-------- Cor-Bon 125 gr. JHP +P
Taurus Model 66 (3")----Speer Gold Dot 125 gr. GDHP
Taurus Model 101-------- Remington Golden Saber 165 gr GSHP
Colt Mk IV Series 80 GM-- Federal 230 gr. HST
I have also tested other gun/ammo combinations and some of the most effective ammo is no longer even produced. Mt Kel-Tec P11 shoots PMC Starfire 9mm 115 gr. loads into tiny 15 yard groups, but the ammo hasn't been made since the early 1990's.
So far I've been using Hornady 140gr XTP's but I do want to try other loads like the Speer Gold Dot for short barrel guns and the Buffalo Bore ammo. I know I don't want to run tons of +p through the gun as I don't want to beat the gun up.
PT140 Hornady XTP 155 Grain.
I was carrying Speer GD but it tended to jam.
I have a box of Federal 135 grain Hydra-Shok JHP I'll be trying either tomorrow or Sunday.
