Westgate Resorts To Scan All Guest for Weapons, So Much for Personal Privacy

Some places in Las Vegas are going to be scanning people for guns without their knowledge or permission.

I wonder how safe it is being irradiated in a manner such as this? Will we be seeing 3 eyed hotel clerks soon or will they just get cancer?

With a name like "PatriotOne", it's hard to argue with the ...er... patriotism of such a device? This is good news for their guests now that they plan to disarm everyone while they are still in the lobby, there can be no question of their safety. It's worked so well in the past for "Gun Free Zones" at malls, schools and in movie theaters wherein those with bad intentions were never able to make it past those "Gun Free Zone" signs. Now, with "PatriotOne" on duty, they'll never be able to get past the radar. Well I guess if they were really intent on getting through they could murder everyone in the lobby of the resort hotel, but who would do that? Never happen, right? I'm sure everyone will sleep better knowing that they couldn't defend themselves. Better yet, I think I'll just stay home!

Sounds like another reason to buy a trailer for camping.

It was crappy when it was the Hilton. Now some timeshare scam company owns it. And now gun scans. That's 3 reasons to stay away.

Though it is Vegas and Vegas is different. The only time I've seen a gun drawn in anger was Vegas. The only time I've seen lots of things is in Vegas. Love that town. LOL

Wouldn’t Castle Doctrine support a gun in your hotel room? If the room is surrounded by ‘monitored’ gun free zones is that some sort of chess game denying you of your rights??

I don’t live in Nevada and am not a lawyer but...

Security theater. My guess is they only cover guest entrances.

Regarding three eyed receptionists and/or cancer, the most likely answer is "neither." I would work around them daily with no hesitation. WHO | Electromagnetic fields and public health: radars and human health

But no, I wouldn't stay at a place that forces me to be defenseless against this: Las Vegas hotel shooting leaves 2 security guards dead, gunman severely wounded | Fox News

From the link you posted, it states that the radars are not harmful because they are not being pointed directly at people for any length of time. They speak of moving radars and moving people.

In the case of these radar emitters, ones that are stationary and continuously emitting, those in close proximity, such as the clerks, would indeed absorb quite a bit of radiation.

And, since most of the studies referenced in those links were many years old and did not include these type static emitters, I do not see them as a proper indication of any danger.

Casinos are not prohibited places by Nevada Law as best as I can tell. Does a Hotel/Resort scanning everyone with x-ray violate your privacy?

Doesn't matter. If they don't want me there armed then my money and I can go elsewhere. I'd feel safer in a hotel full of people carrying guns legally anyway.

I would think they should have to post signs warning about possible interference with pace makers.

I think the best way that we can deal with places that would go this far to trample our rights would be to publically shame them and spend no money there.

Just as we had a list of businesses that did not allow CC in the early days, we could have a list of those using these systems.

Also, I can see a market for suitcases and other items that block these rays. Perhaps a lead sleeve or other means to hide what is inside?

We need to employ the same methods that the liberals use to get things changed or closed toward businesses like Westgate. Use their tactics (or baby tantrums) against them!
OK I live here and guns have always been taboo in hotels and motels. Remember OJ simpson and the 58 killer? They have there rules and there is a reason why. Just remember it's PRIVATE PROPERTY and they set the rules. I wouldn't want some psycho breaking out a window and shooting on a crowd......Oh yeah that already happened!

Don't tell us.....tell Westgate Resorts.
I'm pretty sure they don't come in here to check on the activity in the forum.

Rules were meant to be broken.

If I am paying to stay, it is my temporary home and in my home I choose to be armed.

As long as I am breaking no law, they can pound sand in regards to their rules.

I can get an STD down the street. No reason to over pay for it in Vegas.

Meant to be broken? But you won't follow the rules? Yeah I'm confused! Esplain!
OK, last comment from the 23 year citizen here. TRY bringing a gun into the SHOT SHOW! WHAT WILL HAPPEN? What is the difference from a show and a hotel room?
