Stopped at the LGS in town just see if he had any and what the cost would be.
Half a dozen Mossberg 88s and a 500, all at the same price as new at Walmart.
88s for $199.95 and the 500 for $239.95.
WW in Conway has a 500 12Ga. for $237.

Oh, he had 4 boxes of 20 Brown Bear .223 55gr for $8 each.
No, I didn't buy them. Overpriced. ($6 at MidwayUSA)

Yeah the Local places I've been around here have been pretty highly priced as well for used firearms. The problem is that they are selling them so they aren't willing to negotiate... yet

He told me I could have the 88 for $179 cash, or $50 to layaway and full price.
I'll spend the $199 at WW for a new one.

I would get a new shotgun also for that little price difference, but I would have grabbed that brown bear ammo. Sure midway lists it for $2 cheaper, but shipping and the fact who knows when it will come in makes a big difference. I won't squabble over $2 when its an item that's hard to get.

Glad I didn't buy it, I looked it up and it's steel case Berdan primed, can't reload it.

What I have done with bicycle shops in the past is to negotiate a discount on some other accessory that I want. Many times the markup is better on the ancillary items and they can deal on those. WalMart won't have that flexibility.

Just because I blew up the water jug on the first shot from your revolver at 15 yards.......
