It is a Japanese Water stone moving at a very low speed with water..................
It is slow sharpening but the edge it puts on a blade(or anything else) is scary sharp!.....................
There are a lot of different tool holders you can buy for it to sharpen just about anything, I have the
Chef's set-up.
It does not get any better than this system.....................
