A Chevy Blazer drove through a suburban Chicago mall today. People panicked. Someone yelled, "Active shooter!" More people panicked. No one was injured, but it's time to outlaw SUVs for civilian use! Civilians do NOT need SUVs. You want a SUV, choose another style.

Oh, wait :mellow: the news reports say that a MAN drove the SUV into the mall. :huh: Huh, how 'bout that? It was the driver's fault, not the fault of the SUV. :blink: No calls for outlawing SUVs. Who'd a thunk it? :dry:

Apparently the only thing hurt was a kiosk.

That mall is about 20 minutes from my house. I've not been there in decades. Reports are that the Dad showed up at the police station with his medication. My read is maybe he's a schizophrenic who had a psychotic episode. I do hope that he gets put on the NICS list.

So he is too dangerous to purchase a firearm legally yet we allow him to walk the streets? Drive even?

This story is a shining example of why I stand by my assertion that if someone is free to walk the streets, they should be free with all their rights intact. If they are too dangerous to have those rights, then they need to be locked up in jail or a mental facility accordingly.

NICS Checks do not stop criminals or those that are determined to harm others. This case shows that as this man was using a vehicle to go after people.

Next time he may use something else.

Gun Laws, including NICS, do nothing to stop people intent upon doing harm.
