This Time It's a New .44 Magnum Tracker

Ok, third time is a charm, and the last time for a while. Within the span of two weeks I bought an AK, a 1911, now a .44 Magnum. :D

I got a pretty good deal on a .44 Magnum, 4" Tracker. I have wanted one for a while, and just looking in a gunshop, killing time today I ran across one, she is kinda dirty inside, but looks in good shape. Great lockup and cylinder alignment. A few blemishes on the finish but nothing bad.

Overall I am pretty happy! I will try and take her out shooting soon.

How do others that have Trackers like them?

Mine is also a blue 44 magnum Tracker. The one thing I had to do was change the stocks over to the Hogue Monogrip because the recoil was punishing the middle finger of my shooting hand; no problem....done. I lost the front sight insert when the retaining pin backed out under heavy, heavy rapid use. I ordered and received 2 spare inserts and pins from Taurus. Incidentally...I contacted Taurus on their Facebook page and they messaged me back for my phone # and then called me to offer parts/assisance. It is my only 44 magnum revolver, after various S&W, Ruger, Llama 44 Magnums I think I'll stay with the Tracker; it just seems to be the best all round 44 Magnum revolver I've ever owned.

Thats great to hear, from all I have read the Tracker seems to be one of the best all around .44's in the midsize category.

She'll be added to my carry routine once I have shot her a bit and get a feel for her.

I did a bit of research and she was born in 2008. I gave her a good cleaning and while she was shot, it wasn't much, there was some gunk in the barrel and cylinders but it looks like it was all powder residue. I didn't see any copper or lead buildup. She was either not fired much (which is my guess) or she was well cleaned after each outing.

I have a blued version myself. I haven't shot it much as factory ammo is expensive and my reloads are pretty stiff (WW 296 powder). I does handle these loads, but I need to reload some milder rounds for it. The porting and ribber grips do help with the recoil.

Very nice, congrats ! I imagine as long as you don't need to shoot heavier bullet 44 magnum, you will be fine with this revolver. It should hold about anything 240 gr. and lower.

The only Tracker I own is the 4510 Tracker Magnum, (more commonly known as the Judge) which is built on a modified 44 Tracker frame, so it's more or less the same thing, right? :D

But seriously, that's one nice looking firearm! It's a real shame that Taurus did away with the bluing, as that really is a stunning finish.

I agree, I am a big fan of blued vs stainless. That's a big reason I have not jumped on many revolvers I have seen, they are stainless and I prefer blued/black finishes.

They are great. I use them when I carry a .38 spl or .357 magnum. I prefer them heads and tales over speed loaders. They are much easier to carry.

I do some 44 Magnum loads with Trailboss...your 44 will feel like you're shooting 38 Special.

At one time Taurus offered a blued stainless finish. I thought it was pretty handsome, as well as durable.

TexasAviator:

Now that blue finish is beautiful.
Isn't that much better then whatever Taurus is doing today. Today's blue/black finish is just awful in my opinion.
Your blue is the way they should look.
Congratulations.

I love my Tracker .44! I had both a .357 and .44 Tracker for some time, but I traded the .357 in for a Ruger LCR .357. I sent my .44 Tracker in at one point for what I thought were timing issues, but looking back I think I may have been mistaken. Regardless Taurus took care of the gun and fine tuned it, and it has worked like a charm since.
