We have seen them before and successfully repulsed the efforts of the Socialists in this godforsaken state to infringe upon our rights. We have even had some success with the CCW law passed, which also contained a provision that AR or Modern Sporting Rifles could not be banned unless local ordinances had been passed prior to that CCW law. Spurred on by recent events, the Leftists are on an all out blitz of legislation to, among other things, restrict magazine capacity to ten rounds, impose a three day waiting period on semi-auto long guns (previously one day on all long guns) and place onerous restrictions on gun shops to included having them pay for training (state run) for all of their employees, state licensing of the shop (not sure about individual employees, but sure to come later if not now) and place video recording equipment with file storage requirements to save every transaction. These will virtually guarantee that every little gun shop will be put out of business...their ultimate goal. If you're in this state or do business here, it is imperative that your call and write, but preferably call because they are moving fast on this gun grab. Here's further info from the Illinois State Rifle Assoc and the NRA-ILA.

The bills are:
HB1465 - Shell bill turned into Semi-auto age restriction and ban - Michelle Mussman

HB1467 - Bans a Bump Stock and bans any firearm modifications - Marty Moylan

HB1468 - Sets a three day waiting period for purchase of a semi-auto rifle - Jonathan Carroll

HB1469 - Magazine Ban - Also bans protective safety clothing, like meat carvers' gloves and steel-toe boots and body armor. - Dan Burke

And finally, commented on by ISRA Lobbyists and select Law Enforcement insiders as the worst written legislation ever seen in Illinois,
HB1664 - Establishes an anonymous tip line to bring SWAT teams to your home to scoop up you and your firearm. Deb Conroy

Remember that all of these legislators are beholden to Madigan to carry these bills, or they get no campaign "support" for the fall. But these representatives already hate that you have the freedom to own firearms, so for them this is no stretch. They want to take that freedom away, they have been awaiting the opportunity.

Please call your Illinois State Representatives today, starting at 8:30 am and ask that they oppose all these bills. Don't stop there, tell your neighbors and friends about this attack on our freedom, let them know to make the calls as well.

Please use the link below to identify and get contact information for your Illinois State Representative and Illinois State Senator, then keep that information handy. There are now floor fights on several fronts in Springfield in attempts to take away your gun rights, you will be asked to call your legislators several times this week.

I read in the news that almost all of his appointments have been held up by certain members of the Legislative branch.

Regarding the ban on body armor, there is a very good reason to not completely ban soft body armor for civilians. For many people who work in high risk jobs (like convenience store clerk, etc) or in dangerous areas and their employer won't allow CC, being able to wear soft body armor offers some protection. Also there are many examples where civilian lives were saved by soft body armor worn under a shirt. I personally met a guy once decades ago whose life was saved. He gave the robber all the money, just like his employer told him too, and the robber shot him in the chest anyway. As he was running away he got shot in the back. Spend one night in the hospital just for observation, instead of being buried.

The murder in Chicago wasn't the result of a Glock, an extended magazine, or body armor, none of which the felon was legally allowed to own anyway. It was that the guy was release early. Chicago politicians and judges would rather try to pass a gun control or body armor control law than look in the mirror at some of the real causes of crime there. :(

Can't say it enough... this IS NOT about "safety" it's about control. Which all leftist/communists need to establish their regimes...

What a sad state. I drove hundreds of miles out of my way in the past to avoid it on trips back to MI.

So to recap IL has some of the highest rates of violent crime in the WORLD. Yet it has very strict gun laws.

Now contrast that against AZ that has very modest gun laws and a far lower rate of violent crime. What does that tell you about how well gun laws work? The only people who obey them aren't the problem to begin with!

You've got some retarded law makers up there. :(

Wait a minute, they want to ban soft body armor?! That's absolutely absurd! I mean, don't get me wrong, the whole thing is absurd, but at least I can grasp the twisted attempt at rationalizing bans on certain firearms/magazines whereas banning body armor makes no sense whatsoever so matter how you look at it.

I swear, folks keep talking about improving background checks to prevent folks with a history of violence from purchasing firearms, (Which for the record, I agree with.) but I think we also need some form of test to keep the idiots proposing these sorts of nonsensical laws out of office!

Wouldn't that also ban those Kevlar backpacks that parents are buying like crazy also? The Kevlar sheets?

I always hesitate to publicize it broadly as the Kool Aid slurpers will call in to say that it's the best thing since motorized vehicles.

HB1469 would get tossed. It would violate OSHA and MSHA regulations requiring PPEs on the job site.

Y'all need to get the heck out of Dodge. Sooner rather than later.

They passed them all today except for the extended magazine and body armor bill...they say they'll come back on that one later.

The gun shop regulations may kill my little range in McHenry...they barely survive now. I agree...the writing is definitely on the wall.

I moved out of the Chicago run State of Illinois in 1981. Moved just 5 miles into the State of Wisconsin. Never regretted the move for a moment. Maybe it's time you joined me in a free state. I got feed up when they passed the RTA gas tax and then added the Chain of Lakes Water Management System, another tax which has been a real boone to the state yet did nothing to clean up the waterway which it was intended to do.

Well I hope they at least do a good job of notifying all the criminals in Illinois so they are extra careful to comply with the new laws.:sarcasm:

I don't see how they can ban steel toe boots cause that is a required safety issue if you work in the oil field or other types hazard duties . I can't see that happening . And if it does what does it have to do with guns ??
