The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important
than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

As John Steinbeck once said:

1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just
kill you.

2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

3. I carry a gun cause a policeman is too heavy.

4. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter
recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him
"Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.

7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented
on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you
expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my
rifle."

8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE T!!!

But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did.
She said "Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!" To which I said, of course it
is loaded, can't work without bullets!" She then asked, "Are you that afraid of
someone evil coming into your house?" My reply was, "No not at all. I am not
afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around,
and they are all loaded too."

To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a
car in the garage without gas in the tank.

i dont know if the stats are still valid but n 1995 the stats for accidents was:

1995 Fatal Accident Totals

Motor Vehicles:43,900
Falls:12,600
Poisonings:10,600
Drownings:4,500
Fires:4,100
Choking:2,800
Firearm:1,400 (1.5% of fatal accidents)

Children 14 and Under
Motor Vehicles:3,059
Drownings:1,024
Fires:883
Choking:213
Firearm:181 (2.7% of fatal accidents)
Falls:127
Poisonings:80

this means eating food has a higher risk of death then a gun does, maybe we should ban food, drink, candy, chewing gum, etc ,etc

and look at cars.. cars are practically wagons of death compared to guns.

THREAD DRIFT...

I went to an event at my kid's elementary school last year after work and still in uniform. Had to sit at the little lunch tables and contort myself to get in and out. After I stood, the young lady next to me asked me if my gun was loaded.

My brain immediately queued up a similar response, but out of my mouth came only, "Yes, Ma'am, it is."

She then chided me and told me that my pistol had pointed at her baby in his stroller twice. Sitting down and standing back up.

I told her I was sorry if that alarmed her and left it at that. I didn't try to explain to her that I was confident the gun would not decide to pull it's own trigger in a level two holster.

Left thinking how I'd just dodged a citizen complaint, plus I've learned a lessson about where my muzzle goes when I sit down at the little lunch tables. I check for small children and nervous parents now.

Yep! I can agree with many of these. Especially, pick a fight with an old man. He is too old to fight, to tired to run, and will protect what is his, he will just kill you.

Believe me at my age, I cannot carry my son, who was a cop, so I got a gun like his. ;D

My police response time here is greatly improved,(they built a 24 hr doughnut shop about 1.5 miles away this year) "sorry I had to put that one in".

Anyone can guess that I love LE, too many of my son's friends and some of mine have been LE over the years.

Only one: you can't use soap :)
Sorry but I'm sure that I can find various ways (depending on the situation) where I can use soap while fighting dirty! :D

Rub the soap in their eyes, Steel, that will qualify.....

In the age-old battle between sword and shield, eventually, at some point, the sword will prevail.

In warfare, a fair fight means all of my guys come home alive.....f*[email protected] the others.......

i once heard a saying that "if you got a knife keep if sharp, if you got a gun keep it loaded"
