The World's Largest Army
Here's an interesting fact. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River. Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships in other localities, so why did they not invade? After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer....they knew that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.

1. The world's largest army ... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this....
2. A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
3. There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.
4. Allow me to restate that number.
5. Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
6. More men under arms than in Iran.
7. More than in France and Germany combined.
8. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
9. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters,
10. All of whom have now returned home.
11. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that:
12. The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. The number of Hunters in the state of Texas would be the largest standing army in the world by itself.
13. The point?
14. America will forever be safer from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
15. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
16. That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
17. Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

GOD BLESS AMERICA,

LAND THAT I LOVE!

Mostly domestic, 'cause we're in their backyard.
The foreign ones won't worry as much unless we all decide to attack.

I doubt there are as many Hunters today as in 1992, but I'm thoroughly convinced there are more than double the number of gun owners there were in 1992.

+11!! Exactly the point I was about to make. The number of hunting licenses issued doesn't represent the many, like myself, (a well armed, CHL, VET.) that just haven't gotten the chance to 'hunt'.

Well, I hear there's good food in Mexico and they don't get winter down there<g> Only bad thing about using us hunters as an army...it's hard to find Blaze Orange trees to hide behind so most of us will stick out<g>

And ya notice, they don't even count the archery hunters. I know a lot of people who don't hunt gun season, but, they are avid bow hunters. And if you've ever watched Next of Kin you'll know what I'm talking about<g>

So I guess we're okay unless China invades. Oh wait - they would be coming to repossess our stuff. :icon_rolleyes:

I'd let 'em have CA and NY, provided they can tow 'em back to China.

I sent this to my Liberal, Socialist Brother inlaw. The story that is. Not what I am about to say; We may have the largest Militia in the world but with out Leaders and some organization it is useless.

A valid point, but I'd not call it "useless". Speaking PURELY HYPOTHETICAL... :D I'd hope that with the large number of Vets that are used to operating / thinking 'independently', we could get off to a good start until, again mostly Vets, would know that a 'chain of command' would have to be put in place. Each Vet could be the nucleus of a 'cell', that would grow into an organizational structure. Obviously, it was a 'viable' plan 200+ years ago. I'm just sayin'...

What's China's Army's head count? Keep in mind, they will follow ANY order. Takes morality right out of the equation.

Yep but we can shoot them as fast as they can ship them....at least for now. Maybe that is why homeland security ordered four and a half billion bullets!;)

I don't trust anyone in our federal government. Too much greed for money and power.

And, without TRAINING. Many hunters are NOT the marksmen they should be. And, I mean, with organization should come training. Ol' General Washington hired a Prussian to whip his troops into shape and that guy has been given much credit for our ability to kick the British (sorry Rodfair) out. :D We have the shooters, but that's only part of the equation.

Then there's the fact that many of us are antiques, a physical shadow of our former selves. Yeah, I'm talking about ME. Now, when I was 18, I was an athlete. I was fresh off the high school swim team and actually looked pretty good in Speedos. That mental picture today is nothing I wanna visualize, myself. ROFL! I could NOT keep up with those guys in country like my 27 year old son-in-law deployed in Afghanistan. I mean, even Hitler used the old farts last ditch when it was already lost. The average age of a hunter just has to have gone up as the kids don't seem to be as into it as I and my friends were when I was a kid. This is to the detriment of our national security as I've heard it reported that the best marksmen in WW2 were farm boys. They were the ones that were used to head shooting squirrel at 50 yards or leading a bird with a shotgun which is not unlike leading a ME109 with a 50 cal. Look to Sgt. York for the visual. :D
