I'm intrigued by this. It's not what I expected but I think this will be a fun gun.

I may get one. I mean, you can never have enough .22s, right? :D I don't yet have a Browning Buckmark and I'd thought about getting a new Ruger Mk4. I have a Mk2, though, and I have an SR22 and I have a Rossi revolver that's just simply amazing. I reckon if they want a ridiculous price for it, I'll pass, but if it's reasonable (which I expect), I will probably pick one up. BUT, I probably have a couple of years to think about it before it gets on the market.

DH and I both think the TX22 looks intriguing! It really does appear that the trigger action is very fast, and short. We have a friend that is in the firearm's marketing business and he actually has a TX22 and here is what he says about it!!

"I have one and it is AWESOME. Very accurate. Lightweight. Super reliable. It is the NEW ERA of Taurus. Made in the USA..."

AND the 16 round mag capacity is down right fabulous! Am anxious to get my hands on one! :)

Sounds really good so far. I'm not sure I care about magazine capacity in a .22, but the accuracy thing is my main qualifier for .22 pistols/revolvers. :D Price will also matter.

wonder WHERE you can get extra 16 round magazines for the gun???
Just asking for a friend!---------:thk:

I have already inquired about the availability of spare magazines for the TX22 and will post the info as soon as I receive it. Also, got some info from our marketing buddy that already has a TX22 regarding its preference for different brands of ammo...

"FYI…we ran ELEY, CCI, cheap Remington and cheap Federal ammo out of my gun. Not ONE failure… I am beyond impressed. They did this right!!!!

(My wife) shot 16 rounds in a half dollar sized group at 10 yards…"

It'll be sooo nice to have a rimfire pistol that will function with whatever brand ammo you feed it! Even at the indoor range I worked at we had to have 3 or 4 different types/brands of rimfire ammo for our rental 22's!!!

My Rugers are not ammo picky as far as function, but all firearms have their preferences as far as accuracy goes. Of course, try as I might, I can't get any .22 ammo to jam in my Rossi revolver, even CB shorts!

Yeah, revolvers are the bees knees!! If I am lucky,I try to remember to pack a 22 revolver in my range bag when I take 22 pistols because then I can always have a gun to shoot the ammo that the pistols don't like! :)

So it looks like a new TS in 22 cal about the size of an 809 and Jesse said a carry weapon??? Sorry, but I would never use a 22 LR as a primary carry piece when I can carry much more firepower for the same size.

Hmm, that's Ruger/Browning territory. I'll have to wait and see what the Academy price is. :D

It's supposed to be light, have to see what their definition of light is, but light is what's important to me. I wouldn't carry it for self defense, either, but it'd make a good woods bumming pistol....not that I need another woods bumming pistol. Some folks, though, are recoil shy enough that a .380 is too much, maybe a hand/wrist injury or something. I've talked to people on the net who carried a .22 for that reason and a 16 round capacity would certainly be nice if you have to rely on such a weak cartridge.

But, then, there's always a .22 magnum, which to ME doesn't recoil any more than a .22LR and there's ammo for that caliber that's developed for the purpose. The only .22 I've ever carried was for back up or deep concealment...a mini revolver.

I only have one magazine for my Ruger Mk 2 and Lord knows they are available. I just don't see the point in having many magazines for a gun I won't carry for self defense.

Who else is on board for this new offering from Taurus,16 round mags and accurate much better that the S&W Compact 22 ? I will definitley get one when available !
The new TX-22 will have some big shoes to fill if it is to compete favorably with Smith & Wesson's M&P 22 (either FS or compact). I have both, as well as a Ruger MK IV. All are excellent shooters, and very accurate. That said, I hope Taurus hits it out of the park with this one. If it is a goodie, I'll definitely get one.

Yep - it's looking like a very interesting rimfire pistol, one I definitely want to get! The reports on the accuracy and trigger are very encouraging! :)

The excitement over the TX obviously signals that the .22 ammo dearth is over! "16 round mag?" I've got a Ruger Charger with a 25 round mag if I want to pee through my .22 inventory. (The comment about "shells in the air" competition on the other thread is pretty cool, though...)

It looks like the barrel opening in the slide is oval, which means tilting barrel, NICE. The trouble with all the feed issues with most 22's is the fixed barrel, which means the feed ramp can't drop to help pick up the next cartridge. I own a Sig P250 22 and with tilting barrel and it runs like a champ.

If you like big round counts, the Keltec CP33 is your gun. Also new at shot show. Factory mags in 33 AND 50 rounds! Looks like it will cost at least a hundred more than the TX-22. It's a big pistol but sure is intriguing!
