First I understand that many of you say that you will not OC if signed into law. And I was one of those to say that, but and it is a pretty big BUT, give Texas weather conceal carry in the summer is not always the most comfortable choice to carry. And taking this into consideration I feel sure that come the Texas summer months of Feb thru Nov. I will slowly begin to OC and it will eventually become a natural thing to do. I also feel pretty sure I am not the only one who will convert to comfortable OC practices.

My question is, with the OC becoming legal will your choice in a carry weapon change? Many currently choose to carry a sub-compact or compact firearm for the ability to conceal it.

Some may even carry a Taurus because after all the firearm is conceal and no one should be able to see the name on the weapon......yes, I know that's a vanity thing. It could just as easily be a HiPoint Firearm I guess. But, for vanity reasons you don't want to be seen in public with a manufacturer what has been the subject of so much public ridicule.

Could simply be that you are a true to the heart 1911 person who up to now did not have the physic to conceal a full size 1911.

Or your inner Texan comes out with the desire to let the public make notice of that BBQ weapon that so few have seen in person.

Well, how about it. Have you given it any thought as to changing your carry weapon? Just curious.

About the only thing I have considered changing is my holster. Probably use OWB year round, not just winter. As for the firearm, it will remain my PT145. For now, it will likely remain covered, but who knows, things could change. We'll see.

I don't know that my carry rotation would change any if at all. But, I will go back to tucking in my shirt tail.

In general, I personally will continue to carry the same weapons concealed. It's nice to know I have the option to open carry, though what I carry is based mainly on the loaded weight of the weapon/holster combo. If I could, I would concealed carry a 1911 in .45 acp exclusively, but it's just too heavy. I'm tall but slender, and older; comfort is important. I can deal with the heat better than the weight of the heavier rig. For BBQs, I will open carry a fancy 1911 or Colt SAA in a nice leather rig.

Not much change either in what I carry, but I will be trying to acquire one of the OWB retention style holsters for my 24/7 Pro 45.

The thought of that is like looking at a bad vehicle accident. In that you know it's going to be ugly and will be etched in my mind for a while, but you still want to look if for no other reason than the "Shock Value". Shock Value=beard, kilt, mid-drift blouse..I mean shirt.

I think most of us carry based on compactness, capacity and weight and I doubt that will change any other than for BBQ guns.

Funny that Smokewagon still carries his PT145. as that is my choice also, and mine is a little older than his is and mine is a generation earlier. We both have other guns, more expensive guns, but still place the trust of protecting our lives and those we love to the lowly Taurus brand of the greatest little hand cannon ever made. Obviously, the PT 145 is the last gun I would want to part with, and the Model 66 4" would be the second to last firearm I would part with.

I'm with smoke, my choice of weapon wont change, but I will carry OWB more often and if it becomes exposed no biggie.

I carry a full sized 1911 when the mood strikes me already so that wont change. :D

I learned a lesson several years go about concealed carry.
Now I only CC when I have to. It was a few months after I got my big mobility scooter. I was riding on the Olympic Discovery Trail heading towards the local casino (I don't gamble, there is a fireworks stand there) when I stopped to socialize with a man walking his dog. After a few minutes as I started to leave his dog lunged at me and bit me in my left side and released me (the owner nailed him with a jolt from a shock collar) before I could even sweep aside my jacket and lift my heavy shirt to grab my 9mm residing in a CrossBreed Q-clip holster.
Years later, again on my mobility scooter. I was talking to a lady in a parking lot when a dog jumped from a SUV and lunged at me growling from about 30 feet away. before I realized what was happening I had my hand on my XD40 and had depressed the release button on the Serpa holster (setup for cross draw) but not pulling the gun because the dog stopped charging me about 15 feet from me. I to this day do not remember going for my gun, just that I had it ready to pull if I had to.

That's about what I do. I used to tuck my shirt over my IWB carried gun. Now I tuck the shirt BEHIND the IWB carried gun; if it us seen, no big deal. I do have an OWB leather holster that I overtly OC with occasionally but it tends to snag on doorways and anything else I walk near so it's not my first choice. Whereas all my IWB carried guns are via my Crossbreed Minituck - yes, even my 1911s fit in it comfortably - I have a separately fitted holster for each gun I OC.
