My shop just took in a Taurus View and is offering to me. Everything as new and appears unfired. I know there aren't a ton of them out there with the clear side - should I jump on it ?

What do they want for it? I have a view and a non-view.
$350 with everything it came with new and unfired. A novelty piece for sure - don't see many out there for sale ……………...
I paid $300 for my NV new 4 years ago. I carry it daily.
Thanks. I put an old pair of Taurus 85 grips on the View, it shoots and carries well. Trying to decide whether to buy another set of big grips or sell the View.
i don't know how long that plexi side would last if fired a lot, but i don't plan on shooting it much - just thought it was neat and you don't see a lot out there for sale !
Understood, and I don't intend to fire it a lot. I may contact Taurus for the side plate, even. It is, however, VERY concealable even with semi-fat grips.
With no photos attached to the original post....I had to go Google an image of a Taurus View.....

....that is one ugly revolver.

I mean.....not Maxine Waters ugly.....but pretty darned ugly.

It does, and it did. The grips were an extra set that came with a Total Ti in a weird color I bought years ago. I had to sand a bit (by hand) to make it fit over the curve, but it came out nice. With the fatter wood grip and Hornady Critical Defense loads, the recoil isn't too bad. I wouldn't want to shoot 200 rounds thru it in a sitting, but a couple of 25 round boxes is ok. The grips also keep it from shifting in a patrol style jacket pocket.
That is a different looking wheel gun, however I don't buy guns based on their looks. However it is something to consider.

It never struck me as all that practical. Do you want something unusual?

Well that's a pretty large fugly category seeing there isn't really anything as ugly as Maxine Waters - come on :) It was just unique so I had to get.

I draw the Line at something small enough to have fell out of a box of cracker jack, personally the M85UL sporting a pair of boot grips
Is My limit.
I'm sure this model would make a good collector piece(left unfired) Or something to fill a specific niche roll, but Its not $350 worth of cool.
My 2 cents.
The original grips that came with the View were, in my opinion, worthless. If I were to own one, I would definitely be upgrading the grips to something you could actually hold onto.

Don't tell the last two guys that paid $450 each on GB and the guy that has one on there now for $600 - lol. I hear ya, is it "worth" $350, probably not, could I get $350+ back for it if I wanted - absolutely. Just a novelty as I mentioned but I like anything that is somewhat hard to find :)

Something is worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for it. As far as I am concerned, the V/NV can be beautiful. It can be carried when others cannot, and is in a much more effective caliber than a NAA min-revolver.
