Taurus states their guns are rated for +P ammo use
We have had this discussion over and over, but I found this statement in their 07 gun catalog on the 4th page right under their unlimited lifetime repair policy. I figured everyone out there would be interested in this. I can scan the page when I return from my business trip if yall would be interested in it.

Now I'm confused. This is what it says in the manual for my 24/7:
"Plus-P', "Plus-P-Plus" or other ultra or high velocity ammunition generates pressures significantly in excess of the pressures associated with standard ammunition. Such pressures may affect the useful life of the firearm or exceed the margin of safety built into many pistols and could therefore be DANGEROUS."
So...is it OK to use +P or not?

I reviewed the catalog, earlier this year and have it digitally on my computer. The exact wording is highlighted in red. Note the Factory-new Plus-P built to SAAMI Specs.

Robby hit the nail on the head. He's got the quote directly from the catalog.Since the catalog is updated more so than the manuals to a certain extent, catalog trumps manual....only to a degree.
There are +P loads that approach the velocity and bullet weights put into the manuals. So this is a case by case basis of checking to see if the bullet weight and velocity are at or below the recommendations in the manual. Following those velocity and bullet weights would be a good idea. Safety being paramount,+P use with the velocity and bullet weights stated cannot get you into trouble.
Here's a for instance. +P loads for my PT111 Mil/pro,used sparingly or moderately, do not exceed the 1225 feet per second mark. Federal,Remington, and Speer loads that I use are marked at 1200 fps. This in 115gr. bullet weight. 124gr.bullet +P at 1100fps ballpark figure are also used. These are SAAMI accreddited as far as pressures go for safety reasons.
Black Hills makes a +1300fps screamer +P load in 9mm. as a defense round. Using the guidlines set down in the manual, this is a bit much for the gun.Will not use it in the PT111, but will use it moderately in the Ruger P95s.
NATO spec ammo is a no-no under all conditions. It goes over SAAMI specs for safety.

Oh, yes. Velocity is printed on the side,flap,or inside the flap of boxes of ammo.
I called Taurus about a month ago on another issue and asked the "+P" ammo question. The company rep immediately stated that "all Taurus guns manufactured after 2005 were rated for +P ammo". I reminded him of the differences in the manuals and he again repeated the same to me.

No problem Robby. I just got back from running another 125 rounds through my PT-145 which was produced in February of '07. Seventy-Five rounds of Blazer 230 ball and a little over Fifty Hornady 230+P and 200+P TAP. All rounds went through without a hitch.
My carry round from now on is definately the Hornady TAP 200+P. Next to no muzzle flash compared to the other loads,dead on accurate and feeds smooth as glass. As always, just my 2c worth!

Yeah, I know I have some +P JHP rounds in 124gr for my PT111, got them from my retired LEO son. He carried them in his Glock 9MM, before they changed over to the .40. Nice round.
We also have around the place some definite +P rounds for 357 that he carried in his BUG. He has them for his Ruger SP101, so I will probably try them out sometime later this spring. (We shoot outdoors, and most days either too cold, or if not cold, to darn muddy to shoot)
He was into all the +P rounds when he was working.
I am still trying to confirm which if any 45 LC (colt) +P rounds it is possible to fire from THE JUDGE, which is a tracker frame. Yeah I have another thread on that subject somewhere here.
