Taurus PT-22 PLY magazine compatibility with PT-22?

I was just wondering will the PT-22 magazines fit in my new PT-22 PLY? I am about to order 3 or 5 magazines for my PT-22 Ply and have heard reports of the older PT-22 magazines working. The new ones look too big with the butt pad, comparing with old magazines and the Bobcat 21a... I just got a PT-22 PLY SS on Buds layway for $217

The Poly black was $205 then sold out and the SS dropped down from $230+. Sucks layway took away $8 in cash discounts... Still got a heck of a deal considering free shipping! Currently the regular black model jumpped to $239.00

Hey Hi.

- The original version of this gun is the PT22 Alloy version and you are correct the bottom of the mag' is not the same as the Poly. There is also two different item numbers on Taurus site. The older magazines "may" fit, but I would go with the correct mag' for your gun. The PT22 alloy version that I have is a great gun.. I have 100% no issues with it.. and at "some point" will probably buy the poly version. I have problems with the long trigger pull.. and after putting many rounds thru mine, I actually "can" rack the slide.

Here: Magazines - The one you want, make note of the item number where every you are shopping at.. and stay clear from 3rd parties manufactuers.. like "PRO-MAG"

Thanks, wanted to be sure and not risk $20 a magazine for something that wouldn't work. I will pick up multiple magazines for it soon as I get my gun out of layaway. I felt one in a shop the pull was long but pretty light I was impressed with it. Felt like a toy being so light.

I think you have been a member for a while, remember that if you have any issues post here on the forum there is always good folks that will provide you some great tips in regards to issues. One thing to note, is that this gun has "no extractor" so, block back action ejects the casings. If you use cheap "standard velocity" bulk ammo "you may" get stovepipes.. caught casings in the slide. High velocity ammo (not HYPER) like CCI Mini mags or Aguila Super Max in "my" gun is good. Standard Velocity that is "match" ammo for target completion shooting is pretty good.. the majority have ELEY primers are awesome. Also, if you can find them cheap imported German "Geco" brand for "semi-autos" are great as the smooth out the lead round nose. Also imported Sellier & Bellot high velocity hollow points for a self defense round is good.

Some people do not like .22LR for a self defense gun, but I strongly feel that they are fine with proper shot placement. And I pocket carry my PT22 alloy pistol all the time when I am working or just relaxing out in my back yard. It's a great on the range as well... that nice chunky grip. Just my 2 cents man. Let the forum know how she shoots.

I disagree with you on ProMag. Their magazines are well made and work flawlessly in my toys. I have one of their mags for my PT22 and the only thing it cold use is the finger rest found on factory mags.
For the Ruger Mini14 it's hard to get aftermarket mags worth anything other than ProMag and Tapco. There may be others but these are the ones that work for my.
