I read an article that taurus hired the former head of a competitor's 1911 department to head their 1911 dept. Anyone know what that situation was, who it was or who they hired him from? Any links to that news online would be great.

From how I understood it, the hired Colt ex-ceo, but I think it was a while before they started work on th PT1911

Yep... kinds of make you think Taurus might have been thinking about building a 1911 early on and wanted someone who knew how to do it right. Does it surprise you that the PT1911 is very similar to the Colt Model 80.

No surprise at all. Does anyone know if Taurus plans on manuf. a 4" 1911? Perhaps similar to the Commander, is it?
