New to 1911s, hope this isn't too much of a newbie question: I ordered a set of standard-thickness Cocobolo grips from woodgrips.com. Nice product, after relieving a little wood from the top for the ambi-safety, they look great.
The problem is the Taurus screws. The head is very wide and shallow, and sits on top of the grip, damaging the finish around the screwhead. Is this because the factory grips are slim grips? Should I have ordered a new set of screws to go with the new standard thickness grips?
