Taurus free shipping for repairs

When did Taurus change their policy on when they pick up the tab for shipping firearms back to them for repairs? I've sent my pt1911 in twice before and was told both times that they paid for shipping up to 1 year from date of purchase. Awesome, in my eyes and had no issues.
I called up last night because I've got a problem with my Poly Public Defender where the trigger won't reset without helping it along. I was told the policy is 6 months from date of purchase...and always has been??? I asked to speak to a supervisor and the nice young lady I was speaking to got her supervisor. He tells me it's always been 6 months. Uh nope...
Sorry if this seems like a rant I'm just a little frustrated. How could they tell me the wrong policy and pick up the shipping 2 out of 3 times? Maybe I was just lucky?
anyhoo, went down to FedEx and sent my Poly PD off for a vacation this morning...

I too thought it was 1 year, but recently found out, by Taurus CS, that it is indeed 6 months. Not sure if they were just being generous before, or they had a policy change. I am thinking the later.
They must have arbitrarily changed it to 6 months (without notice) because it was 1 year, says the four returns I have sent to them.
Heck, looking at the policy on their web site the do not cover the cost of return at all so they could tap you for anything they want. They are better than this, they need to address it and list it in their policy.
Yep, it was 1 year after we bought the gun. Recently, some one said they changed to 30 days now so I'm glad you said it's 6 months.

I wonder if people who live in Miami can walk it in for repairs? I would hate to have to spend the extra money to ship it if I lived right there.

On a side note my FFL told me he can ship a hand gun for $20.00, $15.00 in postage and $5.00 fee for him. This will be the way I ship one if I have to. It would cost me more in gas to drive there.

I wonder if any of the local FFLs here would offer something like that? Highly doubt it but may be worth a phone call or two...
The local FFL close to me told me unless I just wanted to have him ship my PT1911,to do it my self through Fedex,if I wanted him to ship it he would charge me for having to "log the pistol in at his facility" I took this as he didnt want to go through the trouble,so I called the Gunsmith I am taking my Armouers Course from and he said just go to such and such Fedex and they'll doit,so I did.Cost me about 90.00 including insurance. Yeah I know I could have called CS and prepaid a label which they would e-mail me for 50.00 but figured what the hell, just want it fixed and back in my hands with as little hassel as possible.
