Taurus 850 CIA Ultra-Lite

I found this Taurus 850 CIA Ultra-Lite from 2014 at my LGS today. Seemed like a steal. As they were filling out the paperwork for me, they noted that they've had this revolver in the back room since 2014. It is refurbished (as indicated by the added X in the serial number), but it looked to be in great condition to me. With a hidden hammer, it's DAO, and with the trigger pulled, the cylinder locks up about as tight as it can be. Very happy with this one.

The tag says it's 3-inch, but I think it's a 2.5-inch barrel. I've been looking for one of these for awhile now. Marking one more off on the list! This makes 16 Taurus revolvers in my collection now. What should I add next? :)

Right up front, I think that the price was quite reasonable for the SS version of this revolver. Currently, the MSRP is $459.00 (who pays that?) AND it's only being offered in that ugly matte black finish with a 2" barrel. You might be right about the barrel length but that doesn't really matter as it is what it is;). Since it is a refurb, I would have asked for a price reduction (on general principles) but in reality, it is probably in better condition than most firearms coming straight off the production line! So, I guess, kind of a bonus. I don't really care for the DAO/hammer-less revolvers but I do see the advantage from a CC standpoint. Overall, I think you did great! RE: what you should add next, I'd have to say an exposed hammer but that wouldn't be possible with this model:(.

Thanks for your comments. I thought it was a decent deal. They actually had two of these and I picked the best of the two. Both were refurbished. I have plenty of other Taurus revolvers with exposed hammers (This is maybe #17 for me.). I bought this for my collection, not necessarily to carry, although I think it would be great for carry. I do have a hammerless 905 in 9mm, but the burr is just cut off, not concealed like this one. Since I don't have one of these with the concealed hammer, it was kind of a no-brainer for me, especially given the price.
Damn OP, that's really nice! ;)

That exactly what I thought when I saw it in the display case, when I felt it in my hands, and when I walked in the door at home with it. No buyer's remorse on this one! (Does buyer's remorse even exist for guns? Hmm. That's a question worth exploring! :D )
I think you good a good deal.
Yup, I think so. Refurbished, sure, but still a good deal!

Yeah, buyers remorse can happen. About six or so years ago, I bought one of those Hellcat .380's....what a POS that one was.

Oh, excellent point. You are correct. I had a case of remorse that involved the name of "Lorcin," although it wasn't immediate remorse. Those were also in my "less educated" days. I gave it to my dad and somebody stole it. I guess they didn't know what they were getting.
