A buddy and I are in the market for revolvers. Pretty sure he decided on the Ruger superblackhawk. I, on the other hand am going tracker style. Question that comes up about the 627 is that sometimes there depicted with the "tracker" on the barrel and others I've seen just say 357 mag. Are there two different versions of the tracker? Not to be a gun snob, but I would rather have the one that says "tracker" on it.

The ones I have seen have Taurus on one side and 357 on the other. This was on the 4" barrel model.

I have not seen the 6" barrel model yet.

yea 6 inch 357 tracker that says, Tracker on the barrel.. they have one at buds that only shows the 357. .

Keep in mind Bud's pictures aren't always accurate. Its best to call and confirm the actual model of the gun associated with their stock number.

So, to the best of everyone's knowledge. the Taurus Tracker in .357 is the 627 model. Stainless steal and has tracker printed on the barrel?

does the 627 model while both classified as "tracker." one is 627 SS and the other one titanium? from what I can see just casually searching around the SS version just says .357 while the model with "Tracker" printed on the barrel is ported and titanium? please correct me if I'm wrong. Or could anyone else elaborate on this? I really want to order the correct one, and would like to at least appear semi knowledgeable before I go in. ya know.

I have a 4" Tracker 357, model 970 Tracker .22. Both have Tracker etched on the side. Both are great guns. I'm leery with the Model 66 and such, but I've never heard of a bad Tracker model.

That's what I'm looking for just in 6" barrel form.
The frame is titanium correct?

Frame is not titanium,it is a lightweight aluminum alloy similar to S&W J frame airweight models. My 4" 627 shows".357 Magnum on the left and "Taurus" on the right side of the barrel. I own a few S&W revolvers and my one Tracker 627 and it is,by far,the most fun to shoot out of all my revolvers.

For a good all around look at a 627 go to Guns for Sale - Online Gun Auction - Buy Guns at GunBroker.com . They have a decent number of 627 Trackers for sale. Take a look at several or more ( or more actually) different listings. These normally have the different sides of the gun pics to look at. If you scroll down and there is only one picture go to the top where the pic is on the left side. Click on the pic and usually more than one pic is available.

I've seen several different new 627s there and they all had different scroll work on the left side.

Check out gunauctions.com: The Leading Guns and Ammunitions Site on the Net and do the same thing as at Gun Broker.com. Might be eye opening. It was for me.
