I'm thinking about picking up a 608 with the intent to add a scope. My only concern is with barrel length. With the ports on these, how much do they affect the front of a scope? I'm tempted to think that the longer barrel length (8.375") would put the ports farther forward away from the front of the scope while the 6.5" would put the port dangerously close to the optics.

Admittedly, I'd rather have the 6.5" barrel, but if that would be an issue, I'd settle for the 8.375".

Can anyone give me an opinion or advice on this?

Many thanks,
Mark

Thanks - gives me something to consider. I think that the 8.375" may be better. I don't want to have my scope hanging so far off the back of the pistol. But, I may reconsider... Hmmm... Not sure yet.

I have scopes on both 6" and 8" barrel guns. I set the scopes back some on 6" barrel guns but the ports have not been a problem on a 44 mag Tracker or 454 Raging Bull. I can't post photos but can email them if you pm a email addy.
