Taurus lists, as far as I can see, the 431 as 3 and 4 inch? I have a 431 , blue, round butt, with a 2&1/2 inch barrel.
Does such exist or am I missing something. Yes 44 special, no lock, wood grips.
thanks for your time
It's just that it may take a while for us to quit drooling over that puppy to get an answer.
431s were built from 1993-1997.
Two inch barrel versions were offered only in 1995 and then discontinued. 3 or 4 inch "heavy barrels" were standard.
The Taurus 445 in .44 Special replaced the 2" barreled 431.
A lot of 3" barrels on any brand of revolver has been shown to be actually 2.5 inches long. Some are actually 3inch barrels. Marketing and the way the barrel is measured, sometimes varies by the measurer.
One of our members back a few years ago has pictures and detail on how he got a wild hog with his 6" barreled 441. The only difference of course between the 441 and the 431 is that the 441 has adjustable sights.
I do own a 441 as well.
I look at the .44 Special as"when you need to thump something that goes bump in the dark". Of course one has to know what that 'bump in the dark' is before proceeding.
