I picked up a 3-inch 431 a while back off GunBroker. I might have paid a bit much, but it is in excellent condition and I REALLY wanted one.

I have over 300 rounds through mine with no issues to speak of. (unknown round count prior to my ownership)

It's a soft shooter and carries well in a leather pancake holster.

For defensive, I use Cor-Bon 165 grain JHP's or the Hornady Critical Defense.

For range, I'll use Remington 246 grain LRN. I need to get into handloading, if nothing else than for .44 Special (there's not that much variety for factory target ammo)

Never shot one, never owned one, but I want one. I remember clearly when they were new and I never got around to buying one. I own a Rossi 720 that would get along with it nicely. :)
