I've used several search terms trying to find information on the gray finish of my new 85 UL. I'm sure the frame material is aluminum and the barrel and cylinder are stainless because the finished crown of the barrel is shiny SS. The frame gives off a slightly different hue than the barrel and cylinder, you have to have it in just the right light to notice. The small marks from the cylinder stop are actually the same gray but shiny from the polishing effect but bare metal does not show through.

Does anyone know what this finish is, how is it applied and how durable is it?

I like the looks of it and it does not show finger prints.
