Just ordered the SS from Bud's. Here is the link: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/17286
Doesn't look like the one on Taurus web page.Wish me luck.

Very Nice !!
I think that's the old picture from the Taurus website. I like the 'old' hammer better...

EDIT: $575  that's a good price!
I would not mind getting one of those. Does it have straight eight sights on it. I really do not care for the straight eight sights. I know it says 575 delivered but are there any charges involved. I figured if I waited a bit the price would come down. Seems like that is always the case with popular new guns.

Why is it called Hotrod? The one on Taurus web site I noticed has black lettering on the slide.I gripped about it last year, but Taurus web page will say "new for 2007" until April.
Congratulations, you'll love it. You got a good price. I paid $569 plus tax. The prices are not going down on these. Taurus raised the MSRP to $800 on the SS model this past year. With steel prices going up again, every manufacturer will have to raise prices. I find the Heine sights very easy to adapt to & the gun is unbelievably accurate. My son now gets lucky because I am giving him my Blue one.
The price did go down. The same place was selling for 625 last week.

Ack, I just ordered that exact gun (also from BudsGunShop) for $625 :( last week... am hoping to pick it up from the FFL this weekend. Could've saved $50...

Also, notice the description says wood grips, though the picture shows plastic grips. :???: I'm starting to wonder exactly what it is that I'm getting...
Let us know what grips are on it when you get it please. I am thinking about buying one and like to know what I am buying. Were there any other costs involved with them or was final price 575? I know I will have to pay my ffl. Thanks,
Harry
My price was $625, plus insurance ($1 per $100). I'll post again when I get it...
Looks like it will be Tuesday before I can pick it up.Has anyone tried the hogue wrap around grips?Do you think they will fit ok?I had them on a Para I once owned liked them.

I have the Hogue all rubber wrap arounds on my blue one, the fit was good but I did have to stretch the grip a little to line up with one of the grip screw bushings. Very comfortable with these grips if you're going to shoot a lot of rounds at one time....
Just brought it home. Appears very well made.Grips are black plastic.Hope to shoot it thur or fri.Trying to decide on the Hogue or the Pachmar Grips.
I'm assuming it's a regular stainless PT1911...?
yes stainless PT 1911.Decided on the Hogues.
Thanks for the update. Have fun at the range.
Harry
Got mine yesterday, it's a regular stainless. The hammer is of the style on Taurus' web page, and is not like the photo on BudsGunShop. Also, despite the text description at Bud's, it did not come with wooden grips.
I'm still wondering why Bud's called it a "hotrod"
