Springfield XDm

Bought one of these a few weeks back. Have put around 500 rounds thru it, great gun. Any other owners out there with comments? I have 5 Taurus in various calibers, revolvers and semi autos, so I do not feel bad about buying another brand. Am very loyal to Taurus but I really like the XDM.

Congratulations on your new firearm.
Welcome to the forum from Colorado!

I have the XDm in .40 and love it. My daughter and I trade off using it. We just change out the backstrap inserts to make up for hand size difference. The .40 is a bit snappy for her but she's grown used to it. This is one of those guns that didn't really need a break-in period.

Downside: haven't been able to find much ammo for it lately.

The XDm was my first choice until I compaired the PT111. I still have my eye on a S&W .40...under $300 at Academy.
Now an FYI..I was looking at online ammo sites...Hornaday 9mm '25' in a box for $25.78 they had 43 in stock yesterday. A dollar a round!
I have the original XD in 40, it is one of my favorites and posibly the most accurate gun I own.
The first fullsize 9mm I shot was an xdm I rented at the range. This was just a few short months after purchasing my first gun, a pt145. I was still learning the ropes and getting better, and decided I wanted to try a big one. I loved it. It was way more accurate than me, and it made me look good. Needless to say, its on my short list.
I have a XDm 40 3.8 and a XD 45 tactical 5". I haven't owned either for very long but do love them both. I can shoot the XD 45 better than any other pistol I've owned. The XDm 40 is a little snappy and I'm not quite as good with it, but it is still a hell of a shooter.
I had a very sturdy XD 9 for a while. It was great, just a bit much to carry.
Nice gun.

Congrats on your acquisition. Not an owner, but I used this to qualify for my CCW. Must be a good shooter - I passed, and that was the first time I had shot a gun in over 5 years.
Got the XDm when it first came out, love it! The grip doesnt fit my hand as well as the original XD, the shape is weird, but ive always been a XD fan.
Congrats, and welcome to the forum!
I've always been a huge Springfield Armory fan. Have shot XD's, but never owned one (yet!)...
Been interested in the XDs for CC.
Thanks for the replies. I just completed my CCW class and used the XDm 3.8, 9mm. It shoots a lot better than I do. Mine is not the short grip version which can also accept an extended mag with sleeve that makes it a full size grip. I have only the full size grip, 19 rounds. This does seem a little large for CCW. So far I am not a IWB sorta person and have only used OWB holsters. Just getting into this CCW thing. any thoughts or suggestions pertaining to the XDm and CCW.
I own a number of firearms and am contemplating using one of my j frame revolvers for CCW, but would rather go with the XDm.
thanks

I absolutely love my xdm in 9mm.I scored it on gun broker for a ridiculously low price with every thing that comes in the xdm package plus 3 extra magazines(5 total) and an extra holster.Mine was used for competition shooting previously and has had a trigger job, magazine well, and upgraded sights. It sits on my nightstand with a light.Absolutely the easiest gun to shoot I have ever had.$420 with shipping and transfer fee.
I hope to get one in .45 soon.I already have a used xd in .357 sig on lay away.

I don't have the XDm, but I have an XD9 sub-compact, and I love that thing. I've never had any sort of malfunction with it, eats anything I put in it. An XDm is definitely on my list of things to get, though.

Really? No 40 S&W? It is about the only thing on the shelves in Georgia that I've seen lately. In fact, most stores which sell it are trying to unload it by the case. Hope your supplies pick up

I've been shooting the XDm 5.25 9mm in competition for about a year now.

Great gun, very accurate and easily controlled. Get a Powder River Precision trigger kit for it, makes a world of difference. I'm considering adding a XDs as soon as the 9mm begins to hit the stores.
Got a friend that has the .45 . Not seen it yet . He just bought it and was telling me about it .

Yep, Daytona, all popular calibers are in very short supply here in CO. I would start reloading but I'm not that confident I can get supplies right now in view of the extreme demands.
