My LGS is now carrying Speer LE Gold Dot 9mm ammunition. The Std Gold Dot 9mms are $17.95/20.
These are $18.99/50.

I picked up a box the other day, and compared them to the GDs I had at home. They looked the same. I took them out to the range, and shot some of each. Everything about them felt the same, and shot to the same point of aim with the same accuracy.
I sent an email to the folks at Speer, since I couldn't find anything about them on the website. The email I received from the folks at Speer said that it is the equivalent of the commercial round. I got another box, last night.
$.38 a round is still a lot for practice, but for a premium carry round, this is the best deal I've seen.
