Just picked up my Spectrum. Probably won’t have time to fire it until at least next weekend. Need to get some ammo for it. Was just curious what ammo you folks have had good luck with in your Spectrum?
What do you like to use at the range? What are you using for carry/defense?
Thanks

Blazer Brass for range shooting, and SIG V-Crown for defense. Both have functioned flawlessly for me.

IS the Spetrum the only weapon that you own?
IF you own another then my suggestion is don't carry/ depend on it until you have several hundred rounds through it.
but then again you may not want a suggestion.
just remmebr no 2 weapons are the same and that applies to function. and with poor/ questionable quality control that only makes the possibilities greater.
anyway my 2 cents.

Also have a snub 357 that I carry 38 in. I just want something light to carry when I'm wearing shorts/summer clothes. I certainly won't carry it until I'm confident it will go bang. I agree, good advice.

I have had absolutely no light primer strikes or any other malfunction/mishap using the American Eagle 95 grain FMJ rounds. As I typically don't carry (due to work restrictions at the hospital), I have not yet actively sought out a more "defense" type ammunition.

I'm not sure this helps much, but my two cents.

Finally got out to the range today. Took my Taurus 357, Ruger Mark II 22, and of course my new Taurus Spectrum 380.

My wife and I shot the 357 first. We shot Winchester 38 through it. She never shot this gun before but she really enjoyed it. She is just more comfortable with revolvers (she said).

Next up was the Taurus Spectrum. Never shot such a small & light 380 before. Surprised how snappy it was. My wife much preferred the revolver. Tougher to control in her opinion and she had trouble racking the slide. I found the slide pretty easy actually. The Spectrum really fits the hand nicely and this keeps it very comfortable to shoot even though the nose wants to pop up and say hi. I had no preference with either magazine. Both were fine to shoot. My wife preferred the extended mag with room for your pinky.
As for ammo, here is what I shot and how the Spectrum swallowed. Now, this gun was straight out of the box. Should have cleaned it first, but I just didn’t get to it.
PPU FMJ - buddy gave me half of an old box he had laying around. 2nd round didn’t feed properly. Fished that round out and the rest of the mag ran fine. Second mad had 2 light primer strikes. One fired on second pull, the other fired on third trigger pull.
Winchester white box FMJ - fired 30 rounds and all ran perfectly.
Fiocchi FMJ - fired 40 rounds. One light primer strike and it fired on second pull. Rest ran smoothly.
Hornady American Gunner XTP hollow point - fired 15 rounds all ran perfectly.
Fiocchi XTP hollow point - fired 15 rounds had 4 light primer strikes. All fired on second pull. Seemed odd as this round is very similar to the Hornady XTPs.

Then we fired a few mags with the Ruger Mark II just because that 22 is just so fun to shoot. After that we called it a day.

I would clean it and try again. Hopefully that helps, if its like mine it won't help though. I would continue with the ammo that ran fine and if they start having light primer strikes you can send it to Taurus to keep mine company on a shelf...

well I always clean a new (to me) firearm before use, mostly to do a safety/ problem check.
In honesty though the Spectrum is manufactured in Miami so all that packing grase and preservative shouldn't be in the gun liek the Brazilian weapons.
the fiocchi XTP should be very, very close to the Hornady XTP, it is just a tad warmer IF I remember right.
the wife might want to try the S & W EZ, let her take one of those for a spin, its basically designed around a ladies needs.
nice ergonomics, super good out of box trigger, easy- peasy slide, accurate.
they sale I believe at about 399 here?
hope the problems work out for you with the gun.

I'd say clean it well and don't over lubricate it and try again. Report back.
